True but when you look at mines they act as a prestaging element vs an active combat element in so much the take time to place and thus change the battlefield shape much like picking ships and loadouts prior. Combat drones could be used as a sort of aoe effect.

I have a feeling combat drones will not be a thing. Combat in SC much like starwars is much more akin to ww2 then any modern or true future combat would be. It's all in keeping with the fps game play mechanics to get players to engage each other in a fast pace struggle against each other...
