Comparing the Antares to the Mantis I think the newer ship has the advantage for one very important reason: Although the Antares can be mispronounced "Ant Asses" (ant-arses in the UK) the Mantis can be mispronounced "Man Tits" which is much, much worse.

I suspect an NPC would need the same tech in the background as a ship-call button and indeed full auto-pilot... And I don't think they'll leave out NPC/player missions to do pickups either as I don't think calling will be a default cost-free feature - I think it would require both an Autopilot...

I've not played KSP but many thanks for the details, TEST has a good history of some of it's backers like Phil seeing through the Hype of a game and it ending up being absolutely correct so it's always wise to listen to the warnings of ones TESTies!

Agreed, the same for combat ships. Choices beyond solo and multi-crew would result in one ship becoming the meta and others being routinely ignored, which makes them a waste of time in development.
