Both the Lightning and Sabre are listed as Superiority Fighters. We have been told the Military hasn't bought the Sabre and it is being sold to contractors. We have also been told the Lightning is adopted by the military and not available to civilians. Granted it is all just speculation. :)

Don't know that it is better, but it is more consistent, since you can mount a gimbal and a size smaller weapon on fixed mounts. There is no real difference between the, for example, gun mounts on the back of the sabre compared to the front of the sabre.
