TEST Book Club - February Voting

    3. The Aimless Expedition No, that's what I voted for. Anything else I think was here is just a figment of my imagination. Hang on, that doesn't sound right.

    Greetings

Welcome to TEST! Hey listen, there's an Ozzy around, been trying to get people to look away from their beer for a few seconds. If you run into him, he's a good guy, just thirsty. It's been hot in Australia this summer.

Gameglass - interesting take on adding an iPad/Android to the SC experience

This is ... shady... I mean I know some companies think that way, but it's still shady. For a device like this, based as it is on tablets and not the pc or the game itself, I'd probably tell the gaming company to go take a flying leap. The same thing goes with companies who think they own...

    TEST Kitties BEST Kitties!

My other story... Well so Kitten as we came to call him loved to sit and watch the squirrels, birds and other animals. He was curious I think about what they were, but never tried to attack anything. One day when he was about 5 or so, I found him sitting in the living room, looking out the...

    TEST Kitties BEST Kitties!

I don't have a pic of him that I can find right now, but I have a story to fill your heart. I hated cats. My oldest son loved them. He got my permission somehow, to buy a $5.00 kitten from a neighbor. He'd feed, clean the litter, and take care of the cat - so I agreed. Well, he couldn't...

    Programmers - Coding in C

Java is easy to hate. EJB on the other hand, you can actually use to solve problems. Not that it's fun to use, just you don't end up hating it completely. JavaScript is partly inspired by Java, but isn't Java. Java was from Sun Microsystems, JavaScript by Netscape (named essentially because...

    Give me your Anthem feedback!

I honestly haven't played a BioWare game since Mass Effect, which was what.. 2007. No desire to start, and it has nothing to do with BioWare really. It was just the year we started using gaming engines for developing simulation software at work. It was so much fun, many of us forgot you...

Question regarding the throttle explanation in ATV "Flight Advance, ArcCorp Glance | 3.4.03)

Try the 3 key on your keyboard. Strafe back. It isn't perfect, but it's functional. I had that mapped on my throttle control, but ... I cleaned my desk and... well I've been looking for it for a week.

Gameglass - interesting take on adding an iPad/Android to the SC experience

Found it .. Amazon Fire 7 Tablet. $49.99. If you need more screen real estate or higher resolution, there's also 8 and 10 inch versions. It's real Android. Only marginally less capable than a Samsung Tab A, but at 50% of the price (comparing 8" versions) Thank you @maynard!!! [Edit... I...

    Programmers - Coding in C

I love EJB. Haven't worked with it regularly for 5 or 6 years, but it was bread and butter for a long time.

Question regarding the throttle explanation in ATV "Flight Advance, ArcCorp Glance | 3.4.03)

You might be right now that I look at the video from that perspective... I also think they might be talking about new default options - that you can change if you need/want. Hopefully.

    Programmers - Coding in C

Well, if you only have 1 language on your resume, you're probably better off with JavaScript than C. You learn C to make sure you understand procedural programming, which is important. But you use JavaScript to make a living. At some point that's important too. But even web developers...

Gameglass - interesting take on adding an iPad/Android to the SC experience

Ahh, I get the use case. Technically you could do this. Practically, I'm not sure it would be a good experience, you might have issues with latency. That's caused by the length and quality of the USB cable used to connect everything. There may also be some serious issues with the disk...

Gameglass - interesting take on adding an iPad/Android to the SC experience

Technically yes, but your data transaction latency may vary, considerably depending on the connection method. In the design use cases for a cellular or tablet, speed is a secondary concern. Good to have, but not if reliability is impaired.

Except if @maynard works for Amazon. That's how I took it.

    SAMs happy-hour-GMT+1-daily-work-COFFEE BAR

I had a lesson in translation while I was in Russia (for work) back in 2005. At the hotel I usually stayed in while in Moscow, there was a rather nice restaurant. The menu was in Russian, but had English translations so I usually got by. They had some incredible items. But down the menu...
