Yes, this is true for now. However, given the way many of the ships have grown, I think it is pretty likely we'll see Vanguards fitting into the Polaris bay. We'll have to wait and see!

Try to keep in mind that the chief advantage of the Polaris' hangar bay is not to carry ships, but to refuel, refit, equip and repair them. If you have a ship you want to pair with the Polaris that does not have a jump drive then you could carry it, but ships like the Hoplite are already long...
