There's a reason why the bayonet has never gone out of style... In a nutshell, you'll never run out of ammo or batteries with a knife (or any sort of blade). Also in close quarters, like a ship, having an edged weapon would not be as much of a disadvantage as you might think it would be.

I'm a big fan of the Dell Ultrasharp monitors. I use one for my home office. BRIGHT as heck, and since it is IPS, has a wide viewing angle. The IPS monitors typically have a slower response time, so people typically don't use them for gaming, but I'm not sure it matters with my crappy reflexes...

Do you use your monitor for anything else other than gaming? The dpi of both monitors is going to make text a bit blocky. If you just use it for gaming, go for the Dell. They make great monitors. Acer? (cringe...)
