Yes, you nailed it. Stealth cannot use its own ping and instead has to search for EM, IR and an opponent fleet's active ping, while avoiding that piing through low RCS. (We don't yet have RCS figures for any ship, but the EX is likely to be among the lowest because of its tiny size.) One...

    Stealth Recon

Lots of great stuff here and too much to address directly. Let me just reiterate that the function of recon is to obtain information about the position and strength of an enemy, and the function of stealth recon is to do so without notice. It really is that simple. To keep any fleet safe you...

    Missile Update

The larger ones are supposed to be harder to shake, and they fly faster and farther. I like the stats on S3, just I want to know how effective they are. I'm also a Vanguard guy and it is a key advantage that most dogfighters can't carry any S3 missiles. A Vanguard can carry 8, so that's 4...

I don't think there is a viable place in SC for spies of any kind. I think the only way to combat the problem of spying is for leadership in every org to hold their cards as close to the vest as possible. Elaborate schemes that require great confidentiality over long periods of time are likely...

I think of exploits as doing things the game was never intended to do. Glitching through a wall is an exploit, and is a form of Meta-Gaming, which I loath. Same with spying by playing more than one character and passing intel between them regardless of context. Spying is Meta-Gaming. Eve was...

It's not an exploit. Once locked doors and breaching charges are enabled, you'll be able to do this same thing. This is just clever thinking outside the box. We need guys like this here at TEST.

Why do you assume it is an exploit? For now, this is the way the game is planned to work. No one can lock their doors and if they could, you'd need a breeching charge just to get onto the 890, which is not yet in game.

    Stealth Recon

I'm having this conversation elsewhere, and was asked "why use all the same drive"? Well because this is necessary to move as a group at optimum speed, and because if you don't then any micro-jumping you do across the battlefield will spread your groups all over. I dunno who has observed much...

    Missile Update

Okay so are the missiles not one-shotting because of reduced damage, or are the S3s not hitting as often as they used to? The calculators show missile damage that ought to require most small targets to get hit twice by any S3 missile. So is it a fair bet that 2 S3 missiles will kill most small...

    Missile Update

Vid from 2 years ago shows Thunderbolt III missiles one-shotting Blades on every launch. Is that still true? How are players doing evading S3 missiles?

Thanks for that. I don't understand the engine overheat trouble. Were both coolers turned off? Hardpoint shows a single Snowblind unable to cool at 100% with all engines active, but 2 Snowblinds can do that quite easily.

I am always astonished at how many pilots fly Sabres without ever using their stealth capabilities. Yes, but I also like this calculator since it shows numbers of a whole class at a glance: https://www.erkul.games/calculator It does not however show some figures, like the EM of a cooler. I do...

Just reminding for those who want to stow some cash, but don't want to fly transport. The 890 Jump mission is easy to do in any ship: View: https://youtu.be/CD4fBV_gKmc and apparently now pays 45k: View: https://youtu.be/GqlVVxWKTKY I still haven't seen anyone do it with the Demeco, but...

    Stealth Recon

I think because CIG designed the Q Drive dynamic the way they did, what we will find is that some degree of homogeneity is going to be useful. I would not only suggest attack groups all be of the same size, but all use the same Q drive when possible. The smallest ships will require special...
  16. Shadow Reaper

    Stealth Recon

It appears so. I test all small ships with the same stealth loadout, under the same conditions: weapons all down, a single Slipstream reactor running, a single Snowblind cooler running, no shields nor Q drive running. So using this baseline, which is as low as I can equip them, you have EM...
  17. Shadow Reaper

What is your current in game red headed stepchild fleet ship?

Point is, they'll find a dynamic that works. It's the same with everything. Right now missiles and torp damage, tracking range and flight range are all screwed up. What we have to suppose is one day there will be some rhyme or reason to them. For now, missiles are so screwed up no one would buy...

    Stealth Recon

IMHO, the Raven is he sexiest ship in game, but it is very slightly slower than a Blade (which is fatal), and under full stealth still has an EM sig five times that of an EX. Honestly, if you don't plan to use the EMP, the Raven is seldom a good choice. The standard Sabre is a much better...

    Stealth Recon

Well, the EX is designed for stealth and recon. That's why it is an EX. Note too, the Eclipse while stealthier, carries the same small array. If you want a better array for a small ship you need a turret, as with the Tracker, and the Long Look uses a parabolic dish so it is only longer...

    Stealth Recon

I think all your examples are of scenarios that are a problem for any stealth recon mission, regardless of what you send. There is always a possibility of being detected. The choices of scout craft remain however. You could choose a Hornet Tracker, and with that Long Look radar you'd...
