IAE Sale Aftermath - Post your new fleet

The LTI Merlin becomes a Connie after January, since I decided the Eclipse still serves as a Stealth Scout and didn't turn it into an Aquilla. :) Oh that is a Scoundrel Pack, a Talon and a Referral bonus Merlin, so all LTI. :) (With a Nox Kue, and two Nox 2 packs in buy back. :) )

Terrapin, should I keep it or CCU to an Endeavor

This IAE Igot myself down to two Carrier birds, the Hawk and the Eclipse. Fortunately the Eclipse has two Quantum Fuel tanks so has reasonable range. If I didn't think I needed a Stealth Scout, I would probably CCU it.

Terrapin, should I keep it or CCU to an Endeavor

One key thing to think about is Quantum range. Right now, not a big deal, while we are limited to Stanton. Once the Verse opens up, that stat becomes much more important. It depends on how much solo exploration you wish to do. I would think the Freelancer DUR or Constellation Aquilla would be...

Terrapin, should I keep it or CCU to an Endeavor

More like a scout ship for a base or carrier. The only thing a Terrapin does better is it is a solo ship.

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

The turrets on the 600 are pairs of Size 3 guns.

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

Absolutely. They each serve a support role in a larger task force. Neither serves well as a lone patrol ship or as the centerpiece of a small task force.

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

Now in a Squadron, a Polaris or two at the center, 2 to four of these and 4-6 Hammerheads, with the Hammerheads on the perimeter, would be a nasty customer.

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

It comes down to how many torps can you engage in that less than 3 second window. A Retaliator should make you sweat. Four Eclipses or a Polaris should make you sweat rather uncomfortably. A pair of coordinated Talis should induce panic.

You have to be able to hide in those snow drifts, in space.

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

You are correct, just under 3 seconds. My bad. I don't consider a Size 7 gun to be point defense. But hey if it is firing at torps instead of ships, that is a win. Low rate of fire and low muzzle velocity vs. a high speed target, on an STS mount should not be the most effective AAA in the...

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

The Size 3 Gatling point defense system has a 2.5km range.

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

They are currently 980 m/second, laughably slow, since both my Carrack and my Star Runner can simply run away from them. (As can a Hammerhead.) Which means they cross the engagement range of those size 3 point defense turrets of the Perseus in less than a third of a second. They should be...

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

Look where the Point Defense turrets are. They are Size 3 GT220, which has, around, a 3500 meter range. Only one of the turrets has a shot if fired at from the front or either beam. Size 9 torps are slow but travel at 980m/s. If the torpedoes are not launched one at a time but 4+ at a time, then...

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

The Ares has 4 size 5 missile hardpoints. AFAIK they are not bespoke, which means each Ares can carry and launch in one salvo 4x size 5 torps.

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

Based on the specs it is one of the few large ships my Retaliator can actually run down. With a crew of 6, I rather put 6 Ares in space or 4 Ares and a Sentinel. With two point defense turrets, one having only a rear arc, this is an ambush ship, without stealth. It is going to need lots of...

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

Perseus looks like torpedo bait. I am definitely underwhelmed.

Is the Perseus useful to the org?

Unless there is something truly special about it, no. With what we already have it is a slot we don't need filled. The two slots that we are likely to need filled is a Fighter Carrier (more capacity than a Kraken) and an LHA, once they get around to that.

    What drives the price increases?

Supply being artificially restricted vs. demand for those ships.
