I think the argument for Origin is that the extra space is justified by it being extra space. It's a selling point of the brand that when paying their prices you get a more open concept. That justification wont work for some, but its the main reason CIG gives.

It's not a cruise ship though, it's classed as a private superyacht. I think that it is relatively well planned out from that perspective as it gives a well placed workstation with a area to meet people in private, all in the same guest room.
