    So where is "master modes?"

Wait, I'm not discussing this at a Bar Citizen across a table? I suppose that was an alcohol deprivation induced mirage. I guess I need to break out the Rum!

    So where is "master modes?"

Several dictionaries and Wikipedia. Right now, sitting at the computer you are travelling at roughly 460m/s around the axis of the Earth. You are also moving at roughly 30,000m/s around the Sun. You are also moving 220,000m/s around the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. None of the speeds make...

    So where is "master modes?"

Space sim is by definition a simulation of mechanics in space. That would mean physics. We're supposed to have planets and moons rotating and orbiting. So now the question becomes speed relative to what? Hover mode wasn't realistic and has nothing to do with being a space sim.

    So where is "master modes?"

There is quite a bit of skill required, however the one pass kill which is a staple of aircombat and has been since fighters were invented doesn't lend itself well to a game. Having said that, that doesn't mean arbitrary speed limits are the answer.

    So where is "master modes?"

No, I assume that the term "space simulation" means simulating how being in space really works, which includes real physics. In space the speed of ships does have the same limit. "C it's not just a good idea, it's the speed limit." The game mechanics of things being blown off, or fires, or...

    So where is "master modes?"

That's just numbers in a database.

    So where is "master modes?"

It is indeed a game, with game mechanics. It is also supposed to be "the best damn space sim, period." The two are not mutually exclusive. Ship stats where there is no jousting isn't going to happen, nor should it. That concept is completely unrealistic. Mallory's "Big Wing," the "Thatch...

    So where is "master modes?"

I've played Traveller with those rules. Yes, they take a little getting used to, and the effect was partially mitigated by the 6G limit on Acceleration (and most non-military ships were well below that). Lasers, plasma and fusion weapons fired at the speed of light but had limited range...

View: https://youtu.be/rZBHits8JPI If that is what it is, then telling us wouldn't be a bad thing.

    So where is "master modes?"

Space is vast and empty. The only placce where those actions are practical, in the real universe, is near a choke point. (Important planet, wormhole, station, etc.) I have no issue with that. The game works under those circumstances. This is supposed to be "The best damn space sim, period!"...

    So where is "master modes?"

Limiting speed in space still makes no sense to me. The handwavium for this speed limit defies physics.

    So where is "master modes?"

Master modes was featured at Citizen Con. Master modes on the tracker says "Implementing new modes to vehicles to manage a their speed, components, and role-specific functions. " The task was complete last September with no additional work listed or planned. But I can't find it on the release...

    Permanent fleet planning question

Now on a more practical vein. Our Fleet and the reasoning behind it. Note this is not one fleet but two. My wife and I started 6 years ago. We have both, since, become disillusioned. We play games together so our fleets are designed to be played together. Our primary goal is to be able to do...

    Permanent fleet planning question

If your interest is Exploration, then the Terrapin or 315P would be the starter ship for that profession. I don't see exploration being all that useful, YMMV. Jump point sizes are being refactored. Bigger ships have faster Quantum Drives and longer ranges. Remember that they can bring an Idris...

    Permanent fleet planning question

Unless you are shipping the ships there, I don't see that working. Remember, bigger ships, as we've been told, are faster in Quantum in addition to having longer range

so I had an idea for the carrack.

I find the idea of having to offload the modules to load and unload them highly unlikely. The interior lower parts of the walls are textured as ramps.

    Permanent fleet planning question

Or instead of flying your explorration ship to a new system, fly your transporter ship to the new system with the ships you want to use there. For example, load up a Liberator with a 315P or Terrapin, a Vulture and an Arrow and fly to the new system. Now you can explore, do combat do salvage...

    Permanent fleet planning question

One additional thought. I have seen nothing to suggest you get to place your ships all over the place at start. I have seen hints that all your stuff starts where you start. You get one personal hangar at start, regardless of how many you have that are listed with your purchased ships. So...

Purchase, in game, of an Aurora, Mustang, Titan or 300 series should be trivial.

    Permanent fleet planning question

First ship: Starter ship, probably Avenger Titan is still the correct choice though the 300 series is a good choice as well. If you believe they have earned your money and can afford to spend more money then. Second Ship: The starter ship in your chosen profession. Learn from my mistakes. :)...
