There's no actual concept phoenix. Best bet is a phoenix emerald, if you don't want a ccu'd one. Also, if you get em from reddit, be aware that the price hikes on the phoenix can get a little crazy.

I find it depends on your preferences, but i use the avenger for most missions this patch. Seems to work well enough, or at least, i'm sucky at dogfights so i don't really notice a particular difference lol.
