    Let's Talk Suit Thrusters

I have a nice size Ork army too, though point wise it's probably 25% of the size of my Marine army. :) Assault Marines and Storm Boyz use the ability to close the distance and get into hand to hand range. The Mobile Infantry use the ability to limit exposure to return fire while advancing on...

    Let's Talk Suit Thrusters

Yes I have all three of the Dawn of War 2 and lots of the DLC. :) I also have way too much money in 40K miniatures, to include a reinforced company of Dark Angles.

    Let's Talk Suit Thrusters

Average Infantryman, with light gear, you're looking at around 100 KG or more, at least in the US. The biggest issue you run into is reaction mass. The second is power. From a real world perspective it isn't really a practical consideration with anything we know about. Now in Star Citizen...

    Let's Talk Suit Thrusters

Being able to use a suit as a braking mechanism would depend on the design of your suit thrusters. In space thrusters don't need much to push a person around. For what you're looking for, it sounds like Heinlein's Starship Troopers Marauder power armor. The standard issue for all members of...

    To The Death

Not to the death. To the pain! Sorry, I couldn't resist. View: https://youtu.be/wUJccK4lV74?si=-HrFn60CW-bgZh0T

IIRC that was based on this.

This is Test Squadron. Our Auroras will blot out the sun! Obviously our home base is the entirety of the known universe.

    Base Building

I, personally, see no reason to spend time and resources building a base in a space game where travel time is a serious consideration. It feels more like a resource sink. What might seem like a good location today, might not be one tomorrow. Until we know how interstellar travel time is going to...

If possible go in through the roof, and work your way down. That way you aren't cornering a desperate enemy. Most structures you can go through the roof with nothing more destructive than an Entrenching tool. (That is a folding sharpened shovel, so you don't have to look it up.) Also going up...

It was my pleasure. Don't breach a door, make a door. :) If you must breach a door, use a tamped charge and send the door, in fragments, in first. then follow the door with a couple of cooked off grenades. Also docking anything bigger than a shuttle is likely a bad idea. What if a member of...

Long term hangar question, looking for opinions.

It's not even that it used to be a great fighter, though it did. It still is quite good. It just isn't needed, long term, for bounty hunting. If I need a carrier fighter, I have the Hawk. If I need a fighter that doesn't need to take up a carrier pad, I have the Vanguard, and to a lesser extent...

I can always change my mind and add one later. :) Even in game with UEC. :)

It could be. Just remember "Doors and Corners, you go into a room to fast and the room eats you." - Miller, The Expanse.

I don't know. It is definitely a longstanding trope though. It is how 40K Space Marines do it when the teleportariums aren't practical. It is how Droids board in SWTOR.. It was used early in The Expanse. I believe they were used in Babylon 5. It was how the Magog boarded ships in Andromeda.

Long term hangar question, looking for opinions.

OK, after playing more in the past couple of weeks than the past couple of years, I came to a realization. I almost never use my Sabre, and my loaner Super Hornet even less. The only time I use the Sabre is when the Blue and Vanguard are both waiting for the insurance timer. And I use it for...

    Let's talk C1

As a certified MOUT instructor (years ago) you don't use the doors to breach. That is asking to be killed. It even happens in Science Fiction. Remember the first released Star Wars movie? All those bodies stacked up at the airlock. Breaching charges and boarding torpedoes are the way to go...

    Let's talk C1

I get it. I was looking at it from an operating cost perspective. Since they (with one exception) all use the same components, operating costs should be similar. And no the S3 ship doesn't automatically lose. The Corsair and Connie hit harder but they have a tougher time getting nose on target...

    Let's talk C1

To be fair, I don't have a dog in this fight. My Cutlass is the Blue, so not quite the same idea. The Zeus II MR is the Blue's competition. There are other ships, that fit in this category that are general purpose and depending on what your actual focus is should be under consideration. The...
