    Changes in Fleet Tactics

My thoughts. Fighters just became more important since Hammerheads just got nerfed to the point they are not likely to be capable of defending themselves, much less act as a fleet escort, so Combat Air Patrol (CAP) just got important. I am thinking Hornets over Gladiuses for this role now...

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

The Vanguard Warden and the Hawk are my two primary fighters.

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

To be fair, the changes do not appear to be an intentional nerf of anything. It does appear, however, that they did not think the combination of what they did through before implementation. It not only doesn't but can't accomplish the stated goals of making combat closer, last longer and more...

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

I don't consider those as especially fun. :) It does mean they are getting no more money out of me any time soon.

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

With the new changes to ammo count, now, not only is my Vanguard getting hangared but so is my Hawk, the Connie, and my loaner Hammerhead. The Hawk because it doesn't have enough power to run all energy plus shields (forget about the agility nerf). The Hammerhead because it can't effectively...

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

The problem is these actions do not even head in the direction they claim they want to go.

Other than the Shotgun (800) and the tank gun (612) all of the Size 5 guns are, according to Erkul, 700m/s. Size 4 and lower are 1400m/s for the repeaters and 700m/s for the canons. To shoot fighters you are supposed to use repeaters.

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

Size 4 guns are the largest practical gun against a fighter according to the new combat model. The Vanguard REO has other duties, in addition to the guns. Actually right now use BVRS and those size 2 nose guns have the same range, and twice, both the velocity and the dps of the Galadreen...

Max crew of 2 in a Vanguard. Manning the guns is a secondary function, especially on the Sentinel.

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

They squashed the gun ranges, because they want combat to be close. So close that the Hammerhead no longer has a job. Where do you sit the second person of a two man team in a Sabre, Hornet, Gladius, Arrow, Hawk, etc.?

But that turret gunner is also the flight engineer, the E-War operator and the missile operator. When does that second person have time to man guns.

Right now, the way things are, my Vanguard is going from daily driver to never leave the hangar.

I have the issue, it is confirmed in the Issue Council.

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

They don't give us the numbers to look at in game, but Erkul reads them as 400m for shotguns, 1400m for lasers, 2100m Ballistic canons and Ballistic repeaters 2800m sizes 1-4. Now at size 5+ the shotguns are still 400m, canons go up to 4200m, the Repeaters are at 2800m The Nose guns on a...

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

60 seconds of ammo is probably enough for one fight. With the additional range of the ballistics over the Lasers, that means a Hawk can probably take a Hammerhead, without taking fire. Especially when the shield won't regen while under fire.

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

All the Gatlings appear to have about 45 seconds of ammo. The ballistic canons appear to have about 60 seconds of ammo. That definitely seems a bit light.

So far I am definitely non-plussed by this patch. This new "balance" is clearly not ready for prime time.

Can someone explain how to employ stealth, and the limits of its usefulness?

EM is reading and locking on to a ship's electronic signature. IR is reading and locking on to a ship's Thermal signature. CS is locking on to a ship's shape. Without actively scanning a ship you would be limited to visual range, and to defeat it all the target would have to do was roll ship...

Can someone explain how to employ stealth, and the limits of its usefulness?

Cross Section is targeted based on the hull "cross section" which would require an active scan.
