    Ship Showdown - Argo MPUV

Absolutely the most useless ship in the verse. The Dragonfly is more useful, and comes in the right colors. #FTheArgo!

Star Citizen 3.15 roadmap and Healing game loops

So for wearing Test Colors, does this mean we should be looting armor from the bodies of Hurston Security?

    Where were you on 9/11?

In the living room in Indiana with the news on while getting ready for work. I saw the live shot of the second plane hitting the towers. I grew up in Brooklyn, my local fire department was home of Rescue 2. On that day Rescue 2 lost the entire squad and the brand new truck.

The importance of a polished product on release date: Cyberpunk 2077

A decade is only another 14 months. :) I am not saying it should be done, I am saying, by now, something should be done, especially one of the basics, like the net code, the flight physics, the planet tech, perhaps the actual scope of what a finished game looks like.

The importance of a polished product on release date: Cyberpunk 2077

Wow, thread necromancy. :) While I agree that a polished product is important at release, we are almost to 9 years of active development and nothing is finished. The basics, like netcode, are still looking at, a minimum, of another year. The inventory system is, still, at least, another year...

    Drama it is then!

On a positive note we only have a month and a half to two months before 3.15 goes PTU.

I thought the proper phrase was "I have spoken."

Thats some serious change to weapon damage in 3.14!

15 seconds of ammo for repeaters and gatlings. 60 seconds of ammo for ballistic canons.

Thats some serious change to weapon damage in 3.14!

It also limits the style of combat. They want to force close turning fights like you should use in a Gladius, but most ships are incapable of flying like a Gladius.

Thats some serious change to weapon damage in 3.14!

They stated several intentions. To differentiate between weapons targeting large ships and those for small ships. To make combat closer. To force "choices that matter" before and during combat. To make combat more "fun." So far, I give them one of four. I am not impressed.

Thats some serious change to weapon damage in 3.14!

Also a serious dump in velocity. That size 5 is supposed to be ineffective against fighters. The DPS is only part of the story.

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

I'm definitely not on the "digging it bandwagon."

Space combat: Where does it end...

Lasers, will disperse, over distance, because focusing is not perfect, not really due to the miniscule amount of particles. :) Otherwise, exactly.

Space combat: Where does it end...

No such things currently exist, so judging them is a bit difficult. The closest thing to a "neutron canon" is likely to be a particle accelerator but those are generally kept confined with their target in the same tube as the stream. I have only seen one in Science Fiction, as a weapon, in...

Space combat: Where does it end...

I get that it is a question of focusing error. Given some improvement, a couple of light seconds should still be very lethal. Speed is, of course relative. The Earth travels at roughly 110,000 km/h around the sun.

Space combat: Where does it end...

My understanding of lasers is that they only disperse when they pass through a medium that disperses them. A Prism, for example. Atmosphere for another. In a vacuum there is no medium to disperse the laser. From a weapon fired in space, to a target, also in space, the only dispersal effect would...

Space combat: Where does it end...

Ignoring the game mechanics in Star Citizen and its artificial limitations. Ballistics, due to speed restraints have a very limited effective range. How good your sensors are, how good their sensors are, relative speed and ability to dodge are all important in the calculation for how limited. A...

    Roadmap Roundup

I hate to say it, but if the current combat changes hold, it is a true 5 person ship. Putting a turret in the pilot's hands seriously gimps the pilot's capacitors and eliminates the turret's extra capicators. Or you can run around with some zero ammo ballistics.

    Roadmap Roundup

i think it is more likely that you will be able to determine what goes where on your ship. For example, which cargo goes in the smuggling compartment on the MSR. Or load both sides of the Avenger Titan before the middle, so you can still get through the cargo bay. Or load the Titan from the...

    Changes in Fleet Tactics

A Size 9 torpedo crosses the engagement envelope of defensive guns in less than 3 seconds. A Retaliator can launch a 4 torp spread again, so even against a Hammerhead, at least one will get through. If fighters can't damage large ships, then nobody will bother building Carriers or fighters...
