So i've been reading up on SC lore lately since there still isn't a lot of content (my main interest will be the PU) and I was thinking about how they will incorporate all the history into the finished game. Looking at other styles, having an RPG style dialogue with bots would be pretty cool...

just upgraded last week to LN. wouldn't mind a shield upgrade though, those PU pirates have been blowing me to bits since 2.6 launched!

the way i understand it is, that the point of the hypothetical treadmill is to keep the plane stationary on the runway with the engines on. so theres no way that would generate upward lift

exactly my point, the lift is created from the forward motion. apparently theres some mythbuster video proving it wrong, but i think they just made the plane go faster than the treadmill!

Imagine a 747 sitting on a huge conveyor belt, as wide and as long as the runway. The belt is designed to exactly match the speed of the wheels, moving in the opposite direction. Can the plane take off?
