Scorpios and Hull A coming?
View attachment 22485
Hull A has been on the horizon and has been shown in a very short bit where it transforms so it looks like technically it's ready to be finished and released.
I own one so I'm eagerly waiting, hopefully some improvemnts to trading accompany it as well so it won't be utterly useless. The placeholder for it was a Freelancer, which was great for everything, so getting a Hull A without a more robust trading system will be more of a step back for those who don't own something mid-size multi-mission capable (as in for me).

I don't think the Hull A market can sustain a price increase. It's already $80 and the Lancer, which is twice the ship; is $110.

Scorpius may go up.
The thing about lancer, is it's literally twice the ship with just 18 SCU more.
That's a problem, not a boon. It requires a medium sized wormhole, while Hull A is a small sized ship.
Additionally, Hull A would fit a BMM hangar, while lancer wouldn't, enabling a BMM owner to go (or send a mate to go) empty all the tradeposts around the planet while BMM is roleplaying a bazaar.
Really, Hull A isn't all that inferior to 'lancer, it's just different, more trade focused.

Anyhow, I'm eager to see if and by how much it'll go up in price. I'd guess by another $20 at most, but maybe $10 would be more realistic.

Actually the Lancer is the largest ship that will fit through a small wormhole, but you're right. The A does have an advanatge in that it can go places the Lancer cannot. It will be interesting to see if it gains a stealth advantage as well. The move to small avionics is not one in the right direction. I have to wonder if the recent nerf to the Lancer stealth is in preparation for the A release.

The A also has a very interesting weapons assignment package with the chin turret. You can imagine using it while parked. Highly unusual.

Wormhole size hasn't been talked about for years, with a good reason. I think it's not a metric they will be using, I think it will be a more granular scale.

There will be a price increase, there always is when a ship becomes flight ready I think. Possibly up to 95?
I'm also not certain about the cargo size, until the ship is actually released, any data on the website is just from the concept and more of a guideline, not an actual stat. So it may have more cargo space when released than the Lancer, so there will be a point to taking a hull A instead of a Lancer cos currently I don't see it.
I'm counting on the Hull A having some sort of unique advantage, like the ability to carry large-size or specialty cargo containers that the Lancer can't or sumthin. There needs to be some advantage to having a flying brick made of paper vs flying a fast well armed fortress.

Btw I couldn't care less about the scorpius. Just another fighter, bah...

Huh, now that you mention it, I do recall something like that having been mentioned.
That's a bit confusing tbh.
I wonder if it's all small wormholes, or if there's like one or two that are just a tiny bit smaller or something. Like, XS wormholes.

Hmm... well, that certainly does diminish my argument.
Anyhow, it's still a solo ship with an truly exceptional cargo capacity.

Nah, it's definitely 48 SCU. There was this video where they were showing off the almost ready Hull A, it had exactly 48 what seemed to be 1 SCU boxes loaded up. I'm like 99% certain about that figure.
But you're right, ships do tend to get a price bump when they finally do get flight ready. Especially the old ships.

Oh, well, that sux for me then. I'll be Very curious to find out what advantage it will have compared to a lancer for almost the exact same money...

Well, it's a single seater with a remote turret... could be it's just enslaved to the pilot, BUT, if it came as AI turret by default, that'd be freaking huge.
Alternatively, it's a relatively large small-sized ship that's specifically designed for hauling. Could be it just gets a relatively large qFuel tank, which would mean that with a small quantum engine, it can go places.
There's also it having external cargo, which will probably be 2-3 times faster to load/unload than on a 'lancer. At least you don't need to pull half your hold out just to access that one box near the back wall.
And wasn't there some talk about Hull-series being highly modular?
You could also be getting some extra income from the advertisement boards, should those still be a thing.
There could be all sorts of things.

Legitimately.. expecting it to have all small components, so lower operating cost. 'IF' the QT tanks are respectable it may find a well-paying niche.

Yeah I guess it will come down to it being cheap to run (which is not really a thing currently unless you totally ignore the free ship replacement and only run ballistics and missiles), fast to load (also won't be a thing for quiet a while yet), and... that's about it? If the modularity is true, they could add like a passenger module for it later, kinda working-class bus type of deal? Would love to see some alternative to just cargo box hauling.
I recall talk about the current Stanton being waaaay smaller than it's supposed to be, just so everyone can get around faster and without having to stop for fuel along the way in smaller ships. So range might actually be a thing later where the Hull A shines.

M gut feeling is that the Scorpius will definitely jump in price as it's released into the Verse as flyable. My best guess is that it'll land somewhere in the range between the Vanguard Warden to the Vanguard Harbinger.

I cant wait for me Hull A - I've been patiently waiting for my Hull C like a good well behaved puppy ever since they supposedly started making it years ago only for it to then dissapear off the face of the earth :( - I guess the hull A will have to do for now! A little puppy treat for a good little puppy backer!!

This below is what they were planning about half decade ago. I'm only aware of a single update: 2-3 years ago there was a press release that the Vanduul had attacked and destroyed an Outsider outpost on Leir with a pair of Void Bombers. Void Bombers cannot fit through the small wormhole out of Vanguard, so that indicates the map is wrong or maybe just incomplete. We know it is incomplete, but it does give one reason to suspect this below is obsolete. Also technically, Leir is not a part of the UEE despite it is a human colony, so that is wrong as well.
