First place I'd take 'em is Arena Commander and Star Marine so they can get to grips with the controls before going into the 'Verse where a wrong step can kill you and send you back to Spawn. No word of a lie today I drank a can of Fizz Cola, stacked it on top of another one which was sat there on the floor, walked over it and died. Rage quit right there and having to respawn away from the group while getting to grips with the controls would be an utter utter pain in the arse.So as I limit my time in the game so I don't see too much and get bored or burned out before it's even fully realised yet, can someone give me some pointers on where to take some friends new to the game?
I will have about 5 friends joining me during the free fly and I'd like to take them to specific spots where they will see combat and some sights.
I'd be fuming mate. 0-1 k/d to a can of cola. Yea I'm gonna send them into the arenas and get them fully up to speed in there. They are more into the pvp than I am so it will get me in there too I guessFirst place I'd take 'em is Arena Commander and Star Marine so they can get to grips with the controls before going into the 'Verse where a wrong step can kill you and send you back to Spawn. Since the basic combat intro answer has been given, my suggestions pertain more closely with places to take them to enjoy the sights. Given how many incredible places we already have to check out in just the Stanton system so far, I'd start with places like Microtech, so they can see the various biomes, especially that river through the trees of the forest area. Follow that with flying around various areas of Crusader if the PC's they're using can handle the clouds, all while pointing out that several of the CIG devs have been inspired by sources like Star Wars, so Hoth & now Sky City. Then finish with ArcCorp, aka the planet wide city Coroscant of the Verse. Which is where the ILW will be being held this year supposedly. If they enjoy a bit a cheeky fun Easter eggs, show them Benny Henge as well while you're taking them on the tour.So as I limit my time in the game so I don't see too much and get bored or burned out before it's even fully realised yet, can someone give me some pointers on where to take some friends new to the game?

Definitely Xenothreat when it goes live. Hopefully the servers hold out during the event. Nothing better than packing a full group of your friends in a Hammerhead similar multicrew vessel to get the full SC experience. So as I limit my time in the game so I don't see too much and get bored or burned out before it's even fully realised yet, can someone give me some pointers on where to take some friends new to the game?

I believe that they said that the Xeno invasion will happen a few days to a week after 3.23 goes live due to how bugged mission 5 has been for so many. Unless that's been changed again & I failed to get the latest memo.Definitely Xenothreat when it goes live. Hopefully the servers hold out during the event. Well in that case hopefully said friends will stick around till the event starts!I believe that they said that the Xeno invasion will happen a few days to a week after 3.23 goes live due to how bugged mission 5 has been for so many. Free fly possibly the buggiest worst laggiest most unenjoyable time to play the game.I will have about 5 friends joining me during the free fly and I'd like to take them to specific spots where they will see combat and some sights.
haha.. You converted them. One of us one of us..Free fly possibly the buggiest worst laggiest most unenjoyable time to play the game.
Good luck with that I hope they are stil your friends.
Mind you the two friends I had I showed them the game once in person let them have a 5 minute fly around and both of them sold their consoles bought gaming PCs and bought sveral ships lol so maybe things will go well.
This is why I suggested AecCorp last.@Garonman
I got my friend to buy into an avanger pack a couple of years ago during the ship expo. It took like 3-4 freefly events over two years but it worked, despite him suffering a lot with a subpar PC, phasing through floors and the public transit doors killing him lol. I showed him planets like Hoth, Coruscant, Cloud City, and of course Tatooine (Daymar). I always tried to couple these trips to something like the events being there or taking some simple missions like box running.
It might sound counter intuitive, but I'd suggest not starting on the planet the event is at. It's the roughest place to log in, lots of lag, broken doors and so on. First two events I've spawned us on another planet so he could get used to the controls, look around proper. Having to travel meant I could show him the scale of the game, show off the ship and environment with less distractions. Lagging around the expo halls looking at all the ships is fun but it can take up a whole play session if you don't just rush through. That should be the cherry on top, not the main course for day one, at least I think so.
Good luck with the event!
Gimme my patch CIG, I need my dose right now!
Sound advice. Thank you.@Garonman

I might start them off with the tutorial then take them into the arenas. Then in the verse into Orison and then take them to Daymar. if they are still interested in seeing some then I am already winning them overThis is why I suggested AecCorp last.
Also, we get to properly explore the Idris in the event. Get to know your way around. I cant be having my pilot get lost on the shipThis is why I suggested AecCorp last.
According to CIG from several years ago, when they showed about an hour of SQ42 at that time, I believe that they said something along the lines of expecting players to get lost in the Idris from time to time while they get used to it.Also, we get to properly explore the Idris in the event. tbh I kind of hope so. When you know your way around it it will seem somewhat smaller. I really enjoy the exploration and finding small details so getting lost and having to go over the ship again will be welcome.According to CIG from several years ago, when they showed about an hour of SQ42 at that time, I believe that they said something along the lines of expecting players to get lost in the Idris from time to time while they get used to it.
