So I want to buy another monitor and I have bought monitors that were expensive and they looked like crap, while other cheap monitors I bought looked great. Here is an expensive monitor... what do you folks think? Any experience with it?

i was reading the G9 is pretty freaken baddass for its price. There is very little latency and it has a high resolution.(may as well be 4k)

I just bought that same monitor but the 27" version because I think 32" is too big. I have a 55" 4k TV I use for everything else. I love the G7 but you might want to talk to @Printimus if you are looking at the 32" version as he had 2 sent to him with dead pixels recently. After returning them he ended up getting the G9. I was skeptical about the curve, but I got used to it right away. The HDR isn't TV level HDR and the blacks aren't OLED level blacks, but I really like the monitor. 240hz is awesome if you got the card to push the games to that framerate.

EDIT: If you buy the monitor, don't buy it from Amazon because there were quality control issues and based on what print went through I think theyre still selling old stock. I buy all of my high dollar electronics off of B&H Photo. Not only do they take care to make sure they don't sell bad stock, you don't have to pay any tax on it either. Absolutely great company.

And just to note, the pixel density on the 27" is greater.

+10 Internetz for B&H Photo, I buy my computer, TV & photo stuff from them, always had great service.

Reading the Amazon reviews of the 49" Samsung Monitors, it is pretty clear something went wrong in the quality control department.

Out of my initial price range but I may reconsider.

I have this monitor (recently re-released on 9/11) and it is above and beyond all my expectations. There were a few growing pains such as getting settings just right and having to manually install graphics drivers, monitor drivers, and then monitor firmware via USB stick, as well as having to manually edit config files for games so they use the 5120 x 1440 resolution. After all that is done and set up though, this thing just WORKS. Its YUGE, its fast (240hz, come ON!) and i feel almost completely immersed in just about any game that I play on this thing. Did I mention it has HDR capabilty? It's a little wonky with windows, but if you can get it to work right, its gorgeous on games like RDR2.

TL;DR buy this monitor if you can. It will put all others to shame.

I think really theres two things you can have with monitors:

1. is great latency and framerate e.h. 144 1ms or 240 1ms
2. is great contrast and colour balance and this is where most of the cheaper gaming monitors fall down.

If you want 1 and 2 then you need to get your credit card out and breathe in!!!!

If spending the money for the G9 isn't an issue, hands down, get the G9. I think its the only offering up there with HDR1000 anyways, and thats really nice if you're playing certain games. You won't always get 240fps in every game, so for the others that you don't, you can make up for in pure eye candy.

the thing you can think about with the G9 is its pretty much like having 2 high end monitors side by side.

If you can't afford it you can always get his little brother with a slightly downgrade in HZ and resolution
