nothing more than was on yesterday's Star Citizen Live, where it was first mentioned.

Feel free to start a rumor! Like, it is gonna be the Odyssey Killer that killed the Carrack-Killer...Killer...

With not only a T2 med bed, BUT ALSO 2 mining lasers and 42 Size 12 Torpedoes....AND a rail gun, LOL

Yes.

And it needs it badly. My friend (ex non SC backer) was really impressed by the insides of the 400i, and loved the outside of the 600i, but couldn't really understand why the supposedly higher end ship has such a badly designed interior. It's a very noticable difference to those who just see them for the first time. I hope they make it right cos apperently there's a lot of love for the flying soapbar.

I know a lot of people complained about the 600i, and trust me, I understand why. I do see what CIG was going for initially though. Youre rich and you can afford to have a ship with plants and wide open spaces. It was more of a luxury condo in space.

That is true, the large open space and plants and stuff should make it luxurious, but it feels like it's a generation behind now that the 400i is out. That being a smaller ship still somehow feels more high quality/luxury. Maybe it's the shaders, maybe the way things are arranged, the ratios of materials used, ceiling height, a mixture of everything probably.
Also, you can see into the master bedroom from the cargo bay/hangar. WTF kinda kinky design is that lol
The addition of a proper med bed and such will be a good one, would be weird to have a large luxury party barge without it. Where would all the drunkards party guest sober up otherwise?
It's supposed to do exploration, it's pretty much a must have.

It more struck me as a new designer's first attempt, especially when you step into the touring version. While a lot of the design elements are eloquent there is a lacking of floor layout planning flow and revival. Even such things as simply turning the bar 180 degrees so that the guest when sitting at it have the view instead of the bartender.

I might end up changing out the touring for the explorer (I got the touring version as I figured I already had a Carrack and so was never going to need a 600 for that role) depending on the new layout look and feature set.

Sorry if this is off topic for the interior redesign, but I guess it may be relevant if the 600i is getting new features soon.

When it was last on sale I think the 600i Explorer MSRP was $475. And I think the Carrack MSRP was $600. So, deals on either ship aside, they are both pitched as explorers, and the 600i is ~$125 cheaper (before tax etc.) than the Carrack.

Are there any reasons someone who already has a Carrack (and doesn't care too much about the luxury interior or looks, nice enough though they are and improved they may be soon), would want to fly a 600i? Asking because I currently have one, while I wait for a CCU to become available to complete a chain to get it up to an Odyssey. What can the 600i Explorer do better than a Carrack in the alpha 3.15-3.17 timeframe, that would be reason to retrieve it at a terminal in game? How about longer term, when both are able to do all their intended game loops?

The thing that most bothered me about the 600i was that CIG routinely shows a lack of anticipation toward storage. None of the ships have enough storage for weapons, armor, etc. All that empty space behind the three seats on the 600i bridge is enough for an entire armory, and having an armory on the bridge is a great idea, as anyone familiar with Starhunter is aware. If they're going to physicalize inventories then lets actually have room for all our stuff. Most players want access to at least 3 suits of armor and half dozen weapon on their "home" ship. It's dopey we're all forced to put boxes on the floor to store what we need.

The 600i is a lot more manageable if you are flying solo from time to time, and it has pilot controlled weapons. Huuuuge plus for me at least. As a pilot I want to pewpew, not have to rely on other ppl or npcs to blow something up.

Hopefully soonTM you will have the chance to ferry high class passengers in Luxury class ships. This could be as soon as 3.17-3.18 maybe?
Long term CIG is supposedly planning to add more variety to these luxury taxi missions, but the point is that you would not be able to take on these missions in a Carrack cos that's not enough bling yo!
TLDR they are trying to give the Origin luxury ship line something to do besides being hangar queens as there is no practical reason to fly those instead of anything else.

Very long term, we simply don't know how much the AI will be able/allowed to handle on multicrew ships, as neither the slaved turrets tech nor Ai crewmembers are in the verse yet. Thus how useful any of these ships are when flown solo is still up in the air.

This is pretty much the answer to the original question, but the flipside of that is that there are also plenty of *other* solo-able ships that one might generally grab over the 600i, so that's then the secondary question you need to consider.
One other point in favor of the 600i though: don't discount the niceness factor! One of the main reasons I routinely pull out my Phoenix (aside from the fact I still think the Connies are good ships), is so that after I spool up and QT jump, I can go back and sit next to the window or at the bar during the trip; and I just LOVE this! I also imagine that if I had a 600i, I might try to utilize bed logout more often, as you can park the nose bedroom with say, an awfully nice view of Crusader. . . :D

Rumor is they extended the cargo area in the exploration version, as well as moved some stuff in the hangar so it accommodates larger craft.
If CIG makes the cargo area larger & extends the lift as well, I'd like to see an extended length rover to go with it. Maybe something along the lines of a hybrid of the G12 & the Spartan that can hold the 5 person crew of the 600i Exploration, but have the seats in the back be fold-able jump seats so that wherever there isn't a character sitting, that zone can be used to transport cargo.

i heard they are going to have a dinosaur cage in the cargo bay to help steer ship thiefs away from trying to steal the ship.
