So, I have been sat on a CCU from a Connie Taurus to Cutlass Blue...

I finally swallowed my doubts today and did it. I loaded both the Black and the Blue in the hangar and had a look around inside. All very cool. Then took it for a fly in AC. It was okay. Then I had a think compared to the old ship I had.

Mmm, a little small compared. A little pokey compared. I then checked the cargo capacity and it was over 200 CU less... I remembered why i'd gone with the Taurus, even with the bigger cutlass coming in the rework it isn't going to have near 250 CU of cargo hold...

It was CCU'd back to the Taurus within half an hour.

I look at this as a learning experience for the coming 600i. I really really want a 600i but I also have to remember what I want from what will be the largest ship ever to be in my fleet.

I want two things, Cargo capacity and Speed. I can live with less cargo if it is a lot faster but sadly the cutlass was and won't be either of these. The Connie Taurus really is a whole lotta ship.

The whole Constellation line is a little up in the air for me.

Not the best hauler, not the best fighter, not the best luxury, just an all rounder ship, which is ok... kinda
I know what you mean. I'm hoping it has a good turn of speed for the size cargo hold it has.

The Hull series may have more carrying capacity, but if it is slow i'm counting on it getting to the sale just after i've beaten them to the best price. Freelancers may be faster but they won't have the capacity to make the trip worth it.

Don't forget the Cutlass series is due for a MASSIVE MASSIVE rework in 3.0, with the Red and Blue coming in 3.1

The Cutlass right now, as much as I loved the original concept, is frankly a steaming pile of shit. 2/5ths of your firepower is useless unless you have a turret gunner in the busted pain in the ass turret. It's not agile enough to dodge fire, and not tough enough to take hits.

Taurus is cool and all, but a Blue should rightfully kick its ass 6 ways to Sunday in a scrap. But if you want a cargo ship, then the Taurus is going to be rad.

Have you considered the Freelancer MAX? It carries a bit less than the Taurus, but should be faster and less crew-heavy.

Curious to see what the 600i will be. Had been expecting a sort of space limousine, but BMW makes trucks and SUVs too, don't they? Hadn't considered a fast cargo transport. That would be very interesting.

The Freelancer has never really caught me, less so since its series of nerfs.

I have a load of dreams but absolutely nothing to pin them on. The "Think family holiday" hint makes me think a big boot (trunk) for all the stuff you'd need on a trip would make it an okay hauler...

i like ships
I too like ships. GIMMIE MOAR!

I would not put money on that. No matter how one reworks the Cutty, the Connies carry a LOT of S4 weapons. A Cutty might not even last long enough to get in range. Not saying guile cannot succeed where the ships are unmatched, but the Connies are pretty tough nuts to crack.

I almost want a Connie now, I was in one and came under attack from two players shields went down and I decided to run and escape. I was so sure I was dead but got the exit and away before it blew up. They really can take a hit.

I have always recoiled from the linearity of the Connies, as they seem boring and unsurprising to me; but they all have amazing stats and flexibility for such a small ship. You can put lots of people in, or fly it alone. You can haul, scan, fight. . .really it would be simpler to list what the ship cannot do.

Watching it in dogfights and it clearly has the maneuverability of a smaller ship. I haven't watched those vids in quite a while but last I saw, it seemed to turn much faster than the Lancers, and the view is so much better that I would be tempted to fight with it. 4 S4 guns for the pilot, and so many missiles make it a real threat, regardless of the version.

The Freelancer was my first ship and I melted it fairly quickly. Then after a LONG series of buying/melting ships, I've come back to the Freelancer in the form of the MAX.

Lots of carry capacity, huge engines for speed, small crew, decent firepower...it'll be my main small cargo ship and mission runner.

Personally, I always try to go with the biggest reasonable Ships in my budget.

Right now, I have a BMM (in form of a Sabre Comet LTI and a CCU) and a value of 110$ on my account... originally, I planned to use a smaller Ship as 2nd, but then I won a Giveaway from STLYoungblood (35$ Aurora MR).

Now I hope for some price increases on the Cutlass and Prospector with 3.0 so I can cut prices with CCU... :P

My target is a Retaliator Base... I always loved the looks of the Ship and with AI Turret Modules confirmed (something I loved to abuse in War Thunder) as well as the stealth-fix for the clipping issues (now can mount S2 Guns and even comes stock with CF-117), I can see it as being a viable Ship.

Tough, if I win another giveaway or save more than expected from CCU, I might go for another 350$ Ship since I have 0$ CCUs for the BMM @ 250$.

Why suck at a single aspect of the game when you can be medicore at best in all of them!
Just like my ........ life.

I tell this one has me flip flopping a lot. I've got a Lancer and a Connie, as a loaner, And I'm not sure which I'll keep as my hauler. Both have pluses and minuses and that's what messes me up. I also have a CCu to the BMM. But I'm not sure I'll cash that in. It is a very cool looking ship, but the overhead might not be worth it.
Then again ships, so I wouldn't be surprise if I get all three.
Decisions decisions. I need a beer!

The Connie is that middle of the ground ship that you use to fill a role. Currently, for me, its the Aquila for exploration as I have none....but, I'm going to use a CCU to turn it into a Reclaimer once salvage is a thing.

The Taurus has no interest to me as I have a Caterpillar for cargo hauling.

Eventually I'll probably get a Freelancer DUR by moving funds around to fill that exploration role.

I am a big fan of the Cutlass and the rework will finally make it a viable well-rounded utility knife. Its really going to be the jack-of-all-trades ship imo.

It sounds like you like cargo, plus the "ok at everything but not great at one thing" type of gameplay, so I'd say the Andromeda is your cup of tea.

Oh I forgot, ships are kewl.

Yeah, a RA with a BMM on it is a treat, of course. It's just that I'm a RSI sucker. I love the designs of both the Aurora and the Connies, and the original (ancient now) Constellation brochure made me fall in love with the Taurus.
Theoretically, you could CCU the BMM to the Phoenix if you have some Carrack to Phoenix CCU as well.
