Although I expect the fuel tank will not be explosive as such, why would you put it on the outside? The video very carefully suggested the repairs would be minor repairs but even so it would appear to have some flexibility, with the presumed missile and ammo top up and also limit fuel supply.

It has a suggested crew of 3 (2 drone operators and 1 pilot) so not much different to a crucible. I might upgrade a cutlass blue to this but wont be adding any fresh cash (I already have a cruicible but this should have some flexibility bonuses i.e. repair rearm and refuel that fighter).

except the crucible can only repair. This can refuel and rearm as well.

That said, the Crucible will be used to repair bigger ships like the 600, Carrack, and Idris efficiently. It also has the ability to tow a ship in it's bay. I think the Vulcan will be for medium to small ships.

I think it'll be more like first maybe second line repairs with the Vulcan and major or third line repairs with the Crucible.

This is what I was thinking as well. They kept calling it an entry level ship for these professions so I have a feeling its fuel capacity and cargo space used for repair and rearm along with just two drones is going to limit the size and speed of things it will be able to handle.
I also wonder if it's degrees of severity of damage so a case where the Vulcan can bang out dents but the Crucible can completely replace a blown off bit of your ship.
IIRC from the repair write up. It's going to be a mini game of managing the cutting/setting laser and the extruder to get the best possible result. I don't see those drones carrying much of the raw materials needed to replace a missing bit with that mechanic in mind.

I agree. Still its going to be highly useful for most small group activities as well as it could be useful for strike missions and forward operations.

Given that for the Cruicible you will need raw resources to repair things (no repairs out of nothing) it will be interesting how much you will need for the Vulcan, i.e. probably just patching it up as others have said. That 12 ccu is for your own supplies for crew as well as munitions and presumably some resources for repairs ala AA van they can fix a lot of things but will not have an army of spare parts on board. Of course its a game so it might just be waved hand but I doubt it.
