Very good, in that case a question leading from that: are there going to be any sectors deemed by the UEE as "sites of special scientific interest" like wetlands on earth or "Sites of astounding natural beauty" like National Parks where mining, even of asteroids, would be prohibited, so other industries like Tourism (enter the 890Jump) or... I dunno, environmentally friendly industry like making Macetree wickerwork furniture, could find a practical base in these places?

I would expect Tyrol to be a site of special scientific interest, but i would also expect Citizens to be strip-mining that place to its bare bones before the star goes up.

And a question spawning from that - industry is a dirty process, will the act of mining an asteroid belt have an effect on the sector - for instance, over time (months/years) will once pristine systems start mucking up with dust clouds? And will there be punishment for entrepreneurs who don't do all they can to minimise environmental damage?

I approached Captain 'Blackbeard' Richard this week about possibly setting up a QA with CIG on his stream and having him ask them some Industry related questions. He agreed to try to get someone from CIG on to answer questions. Keep in mind this is not a sure thing because CIG has their own schedule to keep. Richard is being very gracious to agree to try this for us and I thank him for taking the time to do so. I hope it works out in our favor and we get some good questions answered.

To that end I'm looking for 10-20 really good Industry questions relating to Mining, Salvaging, Repair, Science and Module Overclocking, Bio-Dome Agriculture, and whatever else could fall under the Industry category to give to Richard. If you think it is Industry related I want that question. If it is related to an industrial type ship such as the Reclaimer, put that down too. The more questions to choose from the better.

I'm thinking we'll run this for a week and then I'll sort through it to come up with a list for Richard. I'm not looking for anything in particular in regards to the questions but I am asking thought out questions that require more than a 'yes' or 'no' answer. If Richard can make this happen and CIG likes it maybe we could do it again for something else like Exploration.

One last thing, if you see a question or group of questions you agree with hit the 'Like' button on that post. Also thank Captain Richard for doing this.

can we ask a "WHEN?" question ? lol.

Will there be a reiteration of the mining document, and will there be a technical document to explain Salvaging, and if so could we speculate which quarter of which year would you guess, it would be released?

It's been said that ships cannot be held with a tractor beam while they have working engines or thrusters. Would someone be able to disable them with E-warfare and have a Reclaimer grab the ship to salvage wholly intact?

on for as long as the engines are down i'm sure lol you would have to then incapacitate the crew in order to take the ship whole.

Avenger bounty hunters have S1 suckerpunch distortion cannons which while doing no damage disable shields really quick and then engine systems. Once this is done the ship is relatively helpless. Now these cannons are not in market yet but I believe they would be and would definitely be a go to weapon for pirates.

I have a question regarding the Carrack

1) What is the scope of its repair bay? Is it only limited to the snub fighter or also the ship as well?

2) What is the scope of the science bay? Is it capable of limited research and can it overclock components like the endeavor or is it limited to field analysis?

3) What is the difference between a Carracks Med bay vs the endeavor other than size?

I know we're only supposed to "Like" to show our support for a question, but I had to quote this as well. I give it ALL THE VOTES!

On procedural exploration. If I find a random Jump Point, and it has a planet with a landing zone, will there be a chance of finding an extinct alien civilization there? What about usable alien technology? Maybe they were taken out by their version of the "Black Plague", or a bioengineered virus, for a more advanced culture, will there still be some buildings left for archeologists to wander around?

This thread is for mining focused questions. We will be doing exploration after the mining is done.

I thought it was all industry related.

I guess the Carrack isn't really industry but it does fall under a bit of science, repair, and medical sort of.

I brought it up here cause Rock Raiders prospectors looking for new mining zones, long range scanning for potential threats and even support of fighters in a hostile environment are going to be done by mostly carracks. So as a propecting/ fleet support logistics ship what is it potentially capable of? If it can't really be a spawn point after death or do minor repairs to fighters or mining equipment on a smaller mining ship like the MISC Prospector then might be prudent to use a hope class endeavor or a multi function caterpillar instead.

I do not expect only or even mostly Carracks being the ones providing support for the fleet in that way. The medical and repair capabilities of the Carrack are more for its own use and less to provide support for others. Since the ship is designed to be a long duration ship. As far as long range scanning for potential threats I can see its scanners being used for that but I doubt we will want to put ship the size of the Carrack in danger if all we are doing is a simple mining operation in protected space. Not to mention 1 ship cannot cover the same area with the same fidelity as 7 different ships each scanning their own area. Lets not even get into the cost difference.

I expect the medical unit onboard to be able to handle re-spawning yes. However unlike the Endeavor it will not have a bay where you can call a ship of your own to get back out there. You will be stuck on the Carrack or limited to the Pisces until it docks somewhere for you to get off then get your own ship.

I expect the repair bay to be capable of limited repairs on the carrack itself. However unlike the Crucible I do not expect it to be carrying materials and repair arms to be capable of repairing other ships to any major capacity. The ability to manufacture extra components and hand-held repair tools should be on hand with this repair bay. I do not expect to see a repair arm able to remanufacture the frame of other ships and replace the armor plating.

I'm assuming you played EVE and that is where you think the better more expensive ship is going to always be used, But unlike EVE the most expensive ship also requires more players to run the 1 ship properly when you can have the same number doing the same thing each in their own ship for vastly less cost and cover more area at the same time. Bigger is not always better in this case.

I thought applying alien tech would fall under the "Science" part.
while applying alien tech to a current ship would indeed fall under science/overclocking arena the entire rest of your question is exploration based.

I may also be missreading your intent. if you mean 1 or 2 as the support/command vessel for a fleet of smaller ships then yes I agree. But my point remains about the repair bay and medical bay.
