They both look like great ships, I can see either being the focus of a happy space life! I am sadly reluctant to buy too big a ship just because of lack of time to play i.e. cannot get enough value out of them. Plus the developers comments on crewing very big ships sort of implies you will need crew rather than NPCs but I suspect the caterpillar will be similar to the Constitution for that so maybe NPCs will suffice.

This is also a [CONCERN] of mine. I do love the Carrack, but I need to not have a reliance on others. Limited time online means I don't always have he ability to play with others.

This is my *exact* problem with the idea of owning a large ship. On the other hand, there will be NPCs that can help you too... for a price.

So long as those larger ships, IE the Carrack, can be operated effectively with a crew of NPCs. If the AI on those NPCs is shit, then those of us who rely on them are going to be good and boned.

Yeah, I don't have a ton of faith in any AI. My plan now is to have @Han Burgundy own the big ship (probably a Carrack, eventually) and we will just take it out when we are both online. We also have the advantage of being in an org with OVER 9000!!!! members, so we can probably find someone online to crew for us.

Yeah, there is a distinct possibility of being able to find crew within the TEST ranks. Just a slight possibility though. ;)

Lucky man. Them upping the price on the Starfarer is enough to turn me off of SC for a bit. Couldn't afford it last time around, and now it's 105 USD more expensive. Add to that the CAD exchange rate, and that's a huge chunck of my monthly pay. I'm actually really pissed.

magine a Reclaimer demanding your cargo and money, then having some SHornet friends blow them up so you can munch the ship.

Hell just threaten them with the reclaimers claw. After they give up the goods, grab and chew. Unless it's a medium ship. Then have the SH's blow them up real good.

I love the design of the Carrack. The release of the Starfarer has only made my spaceship boner even harder to see the hangar-ready state for the Carrack. I anticipate the ruining of at least one pair of pants that day.
