I'm not sure that the sales statistics are all that strong, considering its a small ship / rare-low-cost LTI token in an LTI-hungry community.

Just placing all sales in terms of the Hoverquad:

+ $4.5M Sales / 3.5M Citizens = $1.28 per Citizen pledged on average?

+ $4.5M Sales / $30 Per Ship = 150,000 Hoverquads (equivalent) sold ? (fewer considering packages also sold)

+ 150,000 Hoverquad (equivalents) sold / 3.5M citizens x 100 = at most only 4.3 % of backers bought the bike? (fewer considering some bought packages).

Does this mean that only 4% of Star Citizen community members are engaged in recent sales? Friday beers are involved here. What's wrong with my math?

If my numbers are right, I do think they point to CIG's small core of 'whale' backers still supporting the game, but maybe not much beyond that.

It has never really been about everyone buying a ship though. They put out a ship and some people buy it hot off the press, most don't. Always been like that. I don't personally have any interest in it, but LTI tokens are always good to have around. That is, assuming the game gets to a finish line some day.
