I cringe every time I see or hear about a mic drop. Dammit - those things are expensive!

Agreed, but like Hendrix and his guitar at Monterey Pop sometimes destroying the thing is the perfect thing to do.

I did once watch a sound engineer run from off-stage and tackle somebody at an open-mic night as he lifted his arm to drop the mic. Worked too as the mic was perfectly cushioned from the fall by both their bodies.

Ahh... That makes me happy inside my little pea-brain. That sound engineer is my hero.
