Custom User.cfg Guide and Information.

First you will need to create a user.cfg file if you do not already have one.
a. Use Notepad
b. Type in commands
c. Save as - Into your Star Citizen\Public Folder (Test Folder for PTU)
DO NOT put the user.cfg file in the USER Folder - They are separate things.
*** These are CyrEngine commands will be executed while Launching into the Main Menu.

One of the best sources of info & Links.

An excellent example - Do not copy/paste as many commands may need to be changed depending on your system.

This will be a total noob question, however:
What is the purpose of the custom user config file?
NOOOOB!
It helps make your system work more efficiently. You can use the Config file to set up things that, in most games, are clickable little buttons and sliders. Bloom effects, lighting, shadows, details on shadows, how much memory is used by anything, how many CPU's your system uses, GPU usage, etc etc all the way down the line. But.. BUT... it can seriously screw you out of a good time, and also melt your computer if you do it wrong.

So probably something I don't need to mess with if my system is good enough to run the game as is, eh?

Sorry for the late reply.

All of the commands in the user.cfg file simply enable/disable CryEngine commands or set your own preferences.

Don't worry. It can't harm your system.
After all, CryEngine uses them. Ha. Ha.

Cheerios,

I just stumbled across this beauty
http://docs.cryengine.com/display/CRYAUTOGEN/Home
Time to discover new tricks for even more epic visuals

eg this is interesting

  • r_enableAltTab

    • Toggles alt tabbing in and out of fullscreen when the game is not in devmode.
      Usage: r_enableAltTab [toggle]
Notes: Should only be added to system.cfg and requires a restart
And... I'm only to d so far lol
