Ok this is looking to become an everyday thing, damn the sale. I'm wondering if I should pick up a freelancer and if so which one. The thing is I already have a 315p, corsair, aquila and carrack for exploration. For cargo I have a caterpillar and a Hull C. I've seen people saying good things about the freelancer though and I'm wondering if it is worth adding to my fleet.

And I'm looking at the starfarer gemini...that may be a nice money maker but it not on its own since it can't collect fuel anymore right? I may end up waiting on that til next year, unless there are a lot of orion owners in the org that I could end up occasionally partner up with when I'm on. *sigh* damn you chris

Not sure why you have the 315p, Corsair, Aquila, and Carrack. It seems to be a heavy overlap on the explore ships. Especially with the Aquila and Corsair. Honestly, not even sure what sort of exploring you would do in the Corsair or Aquila that you wouldn't just grab the Carrack for. I can still see the 315p being used for a quick recon within the system.

The Freelancer is an amazing small/med cargo hauler especially suited towards the courier missions currently in the PU as it has a faster QT time than the small ships while still being nimble (not sure on the MAX) unlike the other med size ships like the Andromeda. The Cutlass also fits into this same category as being a great courier ship for interplanetary travel. I personally use the MIS for my daily runner as it can easily handle all of the missions available in the game so far. From the 10k bounties to courier missions and drug running.

MIS all the way. I actually like the MIS more than the Vanguards despite it being less maneuverable and looking bad. All 4x S3 are gimbal (my new favorite thing). 28x S3 missiles lol. It is one heck of an under priced beast.

I agree, way to many exploration ships, the Aquila and Carrack to me is either or not both, both require 4-5 crew to operate so to me if you can get the crew dump the Aquila keep the Carrack and if you want a smaller exploration ship you can solo with get the Freelancer Dur it will be your best choice, dump the 315 and the Corsair unless you like them for purely personal reasons they serve no purpose. If your looking for a pure hauler you can solo then Freelancer Max imo. Cutless are great ships but their more jack of all trade kind of ships if you want pure role specific ships Freelancer meets those needs better in a more specific way.

While MIS is probably a great mission machine, I'd like to point out that MAX can actually ferry a razor. Sure the rear wings stick out a bit, but it locks into the cargo grid so it's all good.
Merlin also fits inside the MAX with room to spare. I really like the large ramp the Max has. For its price, it can really carry a wide variety of stuff from one place to another.
Can't say the same about my Starfarer, I mean, sure you can fit like 3 Merlins inside, but you need to ram and clip them through the small cargo bay door.

I think for the middle ground guys you cant beat Freelancer or Cutlass ships. they are both reasonably priced and depending on what role your looking for you can usually find it in these two ships plus you can solo with them and their relatively sturdy and able to fend off smaller fighters/pirates. Again it really depends on what your looking for but to me most players have one or the other in their hanger unless of course they have something way bigger!

Even with way bigger ships and combat specialist ships, I still fly the MIS around a lot as its the perfect size to do most things available in the verse currently. I am sure the Cutlass is similar and I wouldn't discount it but for me, its more just the freelancer meets my aesthetic needs. The other ship that would be a contender even if on the smaller size is the Avenger.

I really want the Constellation to be good but so far it's just lacking.

Lacking in what way? I think as a multi capable ship the Connie is by far one of the best, the only reason I don't run one is the crew demand.
Its missiles don't really work. Its shields/armor are terrible, every time I find myself in combat a few shots in and it's already missing half the engines. It's almost like flying a StarFarer which makes the four pilot controlled guns not very useful against anything smaller than it.

Both the freelancer and Constellation have size M components with both the MIS and Andromeda having 2 Size M shields. While the Constellation has larger guns and more missiles it suffers from less maneuverability due to its larger size. And right now the verse doesn't really have any use for being able to carry around a land vehicle and if I am going to run trade routes then I'd be flying a trade-specific hauler.

It's not like I am going to be melting the Constellation it's just I am not finding it as useful currently in the verse compared to the MIS.

Ya well I guess those ships weren't really combat oriented either unless you have the Mis but ya I have heard complaints about the Connie's combat before and Freelancers are tough out of the box. Connie isn't my first choice for combat anyways I personally hated trying to shoot anything in that ship lol.

Yeah the Aquila I've had for a while, but with the Carrack now having a snub fighter and a rover on top of everything else it has become redundant I guess. Technically though, what I have is an andromeda game package with an aquila upgrade that I never applied. As for the corsair, I guess even though it is listed as an exploration ship I think I picked it up for its ability to be a general purpose and hopefully low upkeep ship. Not that attached to it so it may change at some point, maybe to something more specialized like starfarer or orion. Had been thinking about getting a sentinel before but I may get a MIS instead (probably at the end of the sale in case there is anything else I might want to pick up instead).

I think the Corsair is a pretty unique/cool ship actually, I think if your not to picky about its abilities or not being up to par part of what makes this game cool is having options, I like the fact that some ships are unique even if they lack in some aspect to others in the same category its nice to have choices and pick something that appeals to you.

'Tis a toughie. I suppose you could grab a cheap CCU to the Starfarer G from something you already have? The ship will still collect Hfuel but there is currently no way planned to collect Quantum fuel. They are currently thinking you will have to irradiate the Hfuel with a special radioactive isotope which will then use to refine Qfuel. The Starfarer can do this, but you need to either find/mine or buy the isotope to do that. Fuel mechanics will need to be implemented in game before we can truly know though.

I have a question regarding the Endeavor pods:

- The ones I have are from the previous sales so are about 6yr on insurance. Can I just melt them and get the 10 year insurance with teh credit or am I going to be mugging myself somehow?

I dont' know for sure for the Endeavor pods but I've melted my 6yr insurance Avenger and get the 10ys without any problem, If you are able to buy them with store credits I don..'t see any issue about it

It's worked a treat 🙂

If anyone else wants to try this, please ensure you are doing it with something that's actually available for credit purchase!

I think if you have a Carrack then your multicrew, multipurpose general exploration is all but secure, if your looking for something to multipurpose/explore on a smaller basis not sure the Corsair is the way to go, still gonna need about 4 people to run that thing I would look at a Freelancer series, Dur for exploration and multipurpose I would just go with a Freelancer, their relatively cheap and can be solo'd or run with 2-3 people if needed. If you do this it would free up a ton of $$ and you can dump that into a nice combat ship or another profession on the side or even some small ground vehicles you can drag around in the Dur.

Totally agree... MIS or MAX, MIS with a lot a fire power with some cargo room or MAX with lots a cargo room and still a bit a bang in them guns.. 🍻

I love my Freelancers! They are a blast to fly, and actually do quite well in combat. Anything larger becomes a chore to fly, which is why I prefer my MAX over a Connie...I think the MIS could have a role in the future in ferrying high value cargo (small amounts, at least). Even the base Freelancer has awesome guns, the Size 3 Tarantula's. The DUR may be a bit too specialized, if you don't want to do dedicated exploration.
