Who was the first person who discovered you could get milk out of a cow, and what in the hell were they actually up to at the time?!
My first thought was... never mind.

Then I remembered that as far as we know, the first humans to milk cows were in the UK 6000 years ago. So your ancestors (and mine). But probably they were thinking about cheese and butter, because they were lactose intolerant (I still am).

Then 4000 years ago in Eastern Europe, people started developing tolerance to lactose which begs a few questions like yours ☝. But in the next few hundred years lactose tolerance had spread to most of Europe and parts of Asia. That is interesting because it kind of means that there was a lot of contact over thousands of miles. Much more.... contact.... than historians thought.
