I have seen a few members including myself get this discord freezing up problem.
When somebody sends you a DM private message, your discord freezes up and you need to reload it to get it working again.
For the people I know that got this problem, the issue turned out to be a Windows Notification Cache Issue.
If your windows explorer is also having problems, then this is the issue that is affecting discord too.
First thing to do is to turn off the notifications by going to:
Settings → System → Notifications → turn them off (temporarily, if you are lazy this should already fix the problem short term).
For a better permanent fix, open up task manager (right click on your task bar), search for "push
Right click on that and end task.
Then go to %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Notifications
delete everything in that folder, its ok its not important stuff.
Restart your pc and turn that other stuff back on:
Settings → System → Notifications → turn Windows notifications back on.
This fixed it for me, hope it works for you!
