It's sad really ... I won't get to see warp drives or intergalactic travel. We are right at the beginning of space exploration the really cool shit is like 1-2 hundred years away.:sob:

I can't wrap my head around the idea that space exploration is still considered an unnecessary expense.

Cassini's mission is over, but we have several explorers at work up there yet!
The New Horizons probe (which took those breathtaking pictures of Pluto and Caronte) is approaching the Kuiper Belt, to study some of its objects next December.
Also, Juno, better known for taking the closest picture of Jupiter’s Great Red Spot to date (less than 10k kms from its surface), is still revealing secrets from the Jovian giant. She will stay in orbit for a year or two, before falling into Jupiter's atmosphere, in a similar way that Cassini did.

They seemed like a bunch of parents on campus getting ready to leave after moving their kids into college.
And now the made scramble to get reassigned to a new project before anyone else.
