What I did was buy one on ebay at inflated price and started using NiceHash to mine and recoup the extra cost. It's not an ideal option, but it does let you get a 3080. Just don't buy a Gigabyte, EVGA is much cooler when mining.
Not sure if it's viable now though, back in Jan/Feb mining payouts were amazing. It's going to crash at some point and takes about 100 days to pay the offset (this was in Jan/Feb scalper prices though)... I've seen 3080s near $2000 now, so I have no idea if you could ever pay off the extra $1300. I wish I had just bought a 3090 back then, but hopefully when the 4000 series comes out this shit won't happen.
