Looks like fun Gimpy,
I have booked my elementary pilots course for paragliding. I have had one short flight with a crash at the end and am looking forward to a summer in the hills. If I like it I may get a motor.
When I dream about it, the sun is out, blue sky and 25 C heat. Apparently reality is different in the UK

I have completed all my flying and the exam for the elementary paragliding course (tow) but need to do two lectures.
Yesterday in the Peak District in Derbyshire, UK, was the hottest April day for 70 years with a few clouds and blue sky.
The instructors let me try highflying circuits which is part of the next course. They tow you up to 500 feet and you release from the tow line, you fly around the airfield. There were some thermals and my wing did not want to come down, the other students said I was just floating around.
Once you are off the tow line, it is relaxing and you can enjoy the view from 1100 feet above sea level. I wish I had done this years ago.
I'm actually flying on my own!

Nice one, it sounds idyllic.

Congrats on getting better @AstroGimp01 & congrats on getting to live your dream @Rear_Intruder ! Cheers to you both!

When I was young, I was a boy scout & I earned my pilots license in the process of earning the Aviation merit badge. I was fully certified in gliders, single engine & double engine propeller planes at that time. I wanted to go for jet certification as well, but they said that a person had to be at least 18 for that & I was only 14 at that time. It was still a great experience though. Damn, it's hard to believe that was almost 26 years ago. I'm sure that the regulations have changed a lot since then. LoL

Mrs Intruder loves me and was very happy when I sold my last motorbike (my 15th).
This is what I did today.

This is coming in to land, My Flying Buddy messaged me later and said " Still buzzing, what a sport, what a privilege to fly like that, I'm staggered". I am the one in the yellow Test coloured jacket in the middle of the picture.

Its a Friday, so this is for those of us who are economically inactive or have bunked off work.

New Wing, New Motor, New Year.
This is the take off on my first flight on my new kit. The air was so cold that it was very, very clear and visibility was unlimited. I could see the hills 100 miles away.
Normally I think the moisture in the air makes it hazy, Today we had low cloud and mist to the south and a clear view West, North and East.
