Devastat3 here checking in. I was fat as a kid and devastated all my friends toys by either sitting or stepping on them so hey.. it stuck.. I live in the middle of nowhere Texas...Been married for 3 years and no kids yet but I feel there is treachery afoot...My first gaming memory is throwing my E.T the Extra-Terrestrial game on my atari 2600 out of my apartment window when I was 5 years old. When I was finishing high school I was really into gaming and had heard rumors that some great game breaking MMO was on the horizon (WoW) and I thought to myself.. what can I do for a living and be able to stay home and play my game while my dumb friends are stuck in a class room going on to college.. (Stay in school kids.. being your own boss is cool but you learn to hate yourself quickly when you have no one else to blame for making you work hard!) So I entered the real estate market. I purchased my first property when I was 20 and now I run a property rental management company along with 40 properties of my own. Sadly I have very little time to do what I set out to do although I did enjoy WoW until WotLK... after that bleh... This will be my first gaming experience in space. Red Dwarf is one of my all time favorite shows so if anyone fancies having Arnold J. Rimmer as a crew member am your guy.

Smeggy, or sm3ggy on RSI, here. Yes, Red Dwarf reference. First space shows I remember watching was Blake's 7 and Red Dwarf.
I was and still a fat kid, but now in a 30 year old body. I have been gaming in some manner since I was a little one. I remember doing some simple board games a little, I liked them but parents didn't. Then remember having my Genesis and an Apple IIe in elementary school. I think those started my enjoyment of video gaming and programming too, but didn't really get into PC gaming until mid-college years.
Currently married, sixth year now, with a 3yo daughter and 3month old son. Hoping to get them into board games and then PC later.
As for career, am an "Application Specialist II" or Systems Analyst(hehe) but program client facing installation packages and tools half the time. For hobbies: software dev work/whitehat, amateur photography, home brewer, and motorcyclist.

Red Dwarf is one of my all time favorite shows so if anyone fancies having Arnold J. Rimmer as a crew member am your guy.
I don't have much but welcome with me, think I might be a Lister.

but consider myself an honorary Canadian (verified by @Blind Owl )
True fact. The best Honourary Canadian.
This support paid for in full by beer.
And, as a side effect, I found this really, really nice community of testsquadron which in the meantime has grown to a more important role than SC itself. I love being with you guys, writing down thoughts and feelings, doing some chit-chat, laughing and grinnin' - just be. It feels good
I feel the same way Sam. I've gamed for years, and this is the first online community I've been part of. You all feel like home. It's quite amazing really.
*group hug*
I'm a Combat Engineer in real life, married, a father of 2, and an enjoy-er of life
Well shit. I'm a Combat Engineer as well, Canadian Armed Forced. Badger Operator (AEV). Also married, a father of one, and a lover of life. Cheers brother.

So me:

My name is Tom. I go by Blind Owl almost across the board, unless the damn name is taken, in which case watch for Caeci Strix (twitch and reddit). Just the Latin form of Blind Owl. I like to google stuff that makes me sound smart. Ha. :P

I'm first and foremost a father and a husband. Family is everything to me. I'm 37, my son is 8 months old, and my wife is my favourite person in the world. Second marriage, third time engaged, so I'm I guess what they say is true; Third times a charm. Thank God for that, the first two attempts were horrible! Haha.

As y'all know, my brother @CrudeSasquatch lives in my basement, and we take what opportunities we can to geek out together. Those times are few and far between right now, as RL keeps getting in the way. Ha. I just. RL takes all sorts of precedence over gaming and geeking. I'm sure y'all understand.

I'm a soldier in the Canadian Forces, currently a Combat Engineer. I drive a 50 ton Armoured Engineer Vehicle called the Badger. It's pretty badass. *brushes off shoulder* No big deal. Haha. I'm also a big time joker, not very serious about much at all, as you may have noticed. Life is pretty awesome. I'm heading back or the door again tomorrow morning for another month or so on exercise, so keep @CrudeSasquatch company for me will ya?

Games...shit. All of them. I'm a victim if buying more than I can play. So I've stopped buying games. Now it's just ships. D'oh.
I started back on the Atari 2600 in the 80's. I love my RPGs and my space games. Sci-fi FTW.

As a family we tend to spend as much time as possible outdoors. Camping, hiking, walking, swimming, etc etc. That's living for us.

When I can find the time, you'll usual find my nose in a book. I've read many, many, many books. Started with The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings when I was in grade 6, and have been a reading buff ever since.

I have a degree in 3D animation and visual effects, but I never got into the field. Now, 16 years later, I'm trying to get back into my pencil art, as well as trying to get a grip on using my new drawing tablet. Once things calm down, and the family life isn't so hectic, I'm really going to try to get back into digital art.

That's probably a wall of text for y'all, but hey, you asked. I love you all.

Here I am, with a greasy field 'stache. My wife has demanded I shave it upon my return. *sigh*

Ooo... Pretty. I'm in a Sapper company, so being dismounted we only have the 113s. The mechanics get to drive around in air conditioned LMTVs and PLSs, while we're stuck in Dutch-oven bullet magnets.
That sounds about right. Our sapper troops (field troops) roll in E-LAV's, LAV III's or LAV 6's. I'm thankfully not with them. Too old for that shit, and no fucks left to give, ha.

We actually have new AEVs coming in this year, hard on the Leopard 2 chassis. Their bloody gorgeous. I cannot wait.

Have I answered here yet? I get confused as to which thread I hijack to talk about myself on...

Hi I'm @CrudeSasquatch . I like long walks in the forest, hanging out by rivers, eating berries right off the berry tree, and sniffing the air to see if anyones nearby.
This thread is about yourself so you need to try abit harder to hijack it sonny!

Am I the only person in existence that's actually beaten that game?
I thought they all got dumped in landfill coz it was a terrible game, youd probably be one of the few that finished it. Used to rock my Atari until I evenually was blessed with a Sega Megadrive (Genisis in US I think). Gouls and Ghosts rock on! :D

I didn't think anyone played it... I actually thought it had been completely erased from existence.
They had been all dumped, but I played it at a friend's house and beat it in one sitting. After a full day of playing all that happens is the ship comes down and ET boards it. Worst ending ever! Especially for the effort it took to play the damned thing. I did get really good at getting out of those holes though. That's the part most people complained about.

Nice bus, how does one catch a lift in one of those? And I'm not keen on joining the Canadian military! Its full of Canadians don't ya know! LOL
It IS full of Canadians. The worst kind to boot.
It's funny, because plenty of Canadian's join the Australian forces. Something about the weather...
And the women. ;)

Am I the only person in existence that's actually beaten that game?
Maybe. I remember that game. And the frustrations. The other über hard one on Atari 2600 was the Indiana Jones Game. Frustration!! Haha

I suppose as much as I post on the rest of these forums, I can contribute the occasional constructive post and totally destroy my shitposting cred.

I'm WarrenPeace. The name came from waaaaay back in high school, when a bunch of friends and I were playing Halo: CE on the Xbox (the first one) and I needed to come up with a profile to identify myself. I go by either that or Shortspark on pretty much every game or forum I frequent. Shortspark was the name of my first character in City of Heroes, and has remained one of my more unique monikers, so it's usually a good fallback.

I'm 29, I'm in the Air Force, I have a pair of orange cats, twin brothers named Finn and Poe. They're just coming up on their first birthday. I take entirely too many pictures of them that I refuse to share because I don't want to be that guy who bothers everyone else with how awesome and adorable my cats are. Except when the assholes are tearing down the blinds, or unrolling the toilet paper, or knocking my beer onto my keyboard, or using me as a launchpad to attack their brother.

They are obviously up to no good here.

I've been gaming for as long as I can remember. My first gaming experience were some educational games on my dad's 286, but I quickly went past that to start playing Commander Keen and Civilization. One of my buddies had a NES and I remember many weekends spent over there playing Duck Hunt, Super Mario Brothers, and some other games lost to memory.

Or possibly blocked from memory.

I finally got a Sega Genesis on year for Christmas, and it's been downhill ever since. The game that I spent the most time in was City of Heroes; I played from about 2006 until they closed the doors on the game. I haven't found an MMO that really holds my attention the same way since then.

So about me... I primarily like dark beers, the thicker the better. Not to say I don't like other beers; I will happily drink your ales, lagers, pilsners, IPAs, just about anything that's not crap. Although I'm not wild about the IPAs where the singular object of the beer is to make hops start growing out of your ears. I love reading, playing vidya games, shooting, and tabletop games. I'm trying to actually catch up on my game collection at the moment, but I'm looking very interestedly at Overwatch. Also Chronicles of Elyria. Anyways, I think that's enough rambling on about myself.

Goddamn that mustache is both nasty and glorious. See how long you can put off shaving it... without provoking spousal wrath, at least.

But wait, most important spanish sentence: "Una cerveca, por favor!" - which is way more life saving than/instead of "Wo ist die Kirche"? :D:D:D
Una cerveza, por favor.
Ein bier, bitte.
Bir bira, lütfen.
Une biere s'il vous plait.
That pretty much exhausts the languages I can manage, though I can get by better in Spanish: "Dónde está mis pantolones? Dónde está el bano?
