Hi There. I've been mostly checked out of Star Citizen for the past few years, but this last Citizen Con brought me roaring back. I just recently purchased a game package and will be hitting the Vers very soon.

So, About me... I'm an old school gamer (read into that what you will) who fondly remembers the good old days of space flight sims, like Wing Commander. I live in the Pacific Northwest so my faucets dispense both crystal clean water but also beer. I liked beer. I still like beer. beer beer.
I have two teenage kids, wife and a job so I will mostly be a weekend warrior with the occasional evening thrown in... and the random "sick" day here and there. Though I plan to play with all mechanics the game has to offer, I indent to focus on being a good pilot. Do the cockpits have a cup holder? For the beer?

I would love any guidance for a newbie. I'm starting out with Keyboard/Mouse, but intend to move to a HOTAS setup. would love reccomendations for controls.
Also, has anyone played much with VR? The idea of flying in VR really excites me, but I don't have a headset just yet.

Unless you're rich I recommend looking at Thrustmaster packs centered around the t16000m, such as:

Dual stick (my preference):

Simple HOTAS:

Full HOTAS/Pedals:

Oh yeah...Welcome! We were a getting low on beer drinkers.
Thanks for the feedback. I had been looking at that set from Thrustmaster. I've also been eyeing the Logitec X56 HOTAS setup. Think I'm going to wait for Amazon's black friday sales and see if any of these get some good discounts.

The sensors in the Thrustmaster are far better the last time I checked, the rest of the stick is quite cheap, but all the other sticks with comparable sensors are typically $250+ for just one flightstick.
