Isn't there supposed to be a recent ADM chip that is 50% faster than everything else and low heat? Is supposed to be packaged in the HP Envy I think.

AMD are being remarkably tight lipped about their next gen cards, while Nvidia have released two of theirs. I've always gone for AMD but if the 1070 drops in price before AMD show their hand then Nvidia just might get my money. I might wait to see the 490, but I'm not a patient man.

that $449 is for the reference version, the ones that everyone buys will be $379, also no one should be buying reference card!

I wouldn't buy a reference card if I were you. I am sure to wait until later this year when the aftermarket cards have been tested and reviewed so I can pick the best of them(probably MSI).
Yep no one should be buying reference cards, hell the egva sc version will only be $439 and way better lol

RX 480 is only $200 and is better than 980Ti at most applications. Available at the end of the month, supposedly.

No word yet on the 490.

At the high end, nVidia is the only option so far with 1070 or 1080.

Personally I'm waiting for the 1080Ti since I am certifiably crazy. I don't expect that for probably 6+ months though.

AMD hasn't been able to compete with the high end nVidia cards for a while, and they finally gave up trying.

You want top quality? 1070 or 1080.

However the new 4xx AMD cards look really amazing for the price. They took relatively inexpensive cards and made them awesome.

Budget PCs don't have to suck anymore!

Everybody wins. :)

The new 480 is kinda controversial as we have had many quotes from amd personal opposing each other. But it offers good wattage (120) to performance. It still is comparable though as 1070 is 150watts and 1080 is 180watts. This is mostly due to a decrease in die size from 28nm to 16/14nm.

They have stepped up their vega from 2017 to this year. Vega might be their fury anx 490. Rumors say they weren't expectibg 1080 to be a powerhouse and the 480 was supposed to be the 490.

See this is where we getting oppoaing information we were told 980ti performance but in forums the repa were saying between 970 and 980 performance and 980ti performance in some areas. We will havr to wait for benchmarks but they will not be coming from me so maybe russianj? Otherwise youtube benchers will have them.

Oh yeah, right now it's a question of which card has a quality aftermarket out first. If XFX start pumping out 1070s then that'll probably be me sold so long as the specs are good and the price is right. AMD could tempt me yet though...

Yes, that's what I was thinking of. The AMD A12 is supposed to be so fast and cool that it can be used all over and is going into builds other than dedicated cards. I like All-In-Ones and if the 34" curved HP Envy can run SC on the new A12 I may go that route. I don't know how good the screen looks though. It will be worth find ing out in a few months when I add a new machine.

I was going to buy into a GTX 1080... but I want more parts for the Jeep, so an EVGA GTX 1070 will be my poison once they release their design cards.

Where? Amd's benchmark? Mysterious benchmarks on 3dmark 11? AMD is doing damage control about their ashes benchmark. We need to wait for 3rd party benchmarks so we have the truth.
