Thanks to this delay, I was able to do my holiday shopping for Granny RedLir
Honestly, I would have had more respect for them if they had done that. Instead of the live stream, they just put a loop of Jared karaoke'ing "Never gonna give you up". That would have at least had some purpose other than sheer incompetence.
Don't give me wrong. I only nominally care that it was delayed. I had about 30 seconds of "WTF were they thinking?!" and then I was over it. The only care that I have is that they did this in a public manner. My concern is for the potential new backers that they showed their ass to. It pours gas on a fire that has been burning for years. It really doesn't look good at all.
Then again, gamers' memory is pretty short. If they pull this off in the end, nobody will give a shit that they were a year and one day late for SQ42 news. They won't remember a single time a deadline was missed or when they put a ship back on sale that "they said would be limited!!". Gamers will kick and scream but they will be online in game with everyone else. If CR can actually deliver, it will be the very definition of the statement "the end justifies the means".
EDIT: Just look at EA. They very publicly and pornographically violate their customers. They don't even try to hide it now. Yet there the gamers are, every game, lining up to buy the latest release.

If a game studio based their choices on what the vocal 6% of the backers were going to fling about on the Internet every time they did or even said something they'd probably not get out of bed.

Crowds are fickle. If the stream doesn't have any technical hitches, the delay will have been more than valid. If.

In Denmark, the live stream takes place at 9 am in the morning, so with this delay I can now kick back on the couch with my morning coffee (beer?) and watch the live stream, instead of having to watch it at work. :P Sucks with a delay, but I like the new schedule. xD

Lets be honest it doesn't matter in itself. They advertised it externally, the last S42 stream was binned late, they are usually late (so its what we expect) and progress on the game is well slow (and late by what they tell us). I do not care about the stream at all but I do care at how bad they are managed. I truly believe they will need at least another $100m to get this closed to finished as they take so long over even one patch with hardly any content. The apologist will always say things go wrong all the time sometimes you just have to say it is them.

Having the chat on while watching the stream was useful - I never would have noticed a woman was on screen if it wern't for all the virgins members other viewers screaming "GIIIIIIIRRRRL!!!!!1"
EDIT - had to turn it off, the Chat thing was flipping over at 12 posts a second caused some inner turmoil - 17,000 people all using chat at once void the point of it in my opinion but I suppose for those who use the platform there is something that can turn 17000 into 0...
