I saw a video with an 890 having 16 boxes and they persist.
hm. Wonder if you can put it in the basement of the MSR (lol I forgot what to call that) and avoid the fine?
Reminds me the early days of Eve online with jettison mining. Was not an intended feature and it utterly screwed up their plan rate of progression.
And theres me just been putting garbage armour on my own ship and having a testy blow it up

Follow up questions on this topic though, when you go to sell the gathered materials to venders, will the items in these boxes also show up as available to unload? If so, great, but will the boxes still persist after that on the ship?

I've been doing a similar thing...if I leave a rifle in my Pisces and self-destruct, I then get a square box half the size of the one you got (yours was rectangular).
That makes it easier to move around via tractor beam inside the bunker and collect & store the gear off the dead bodies.
The box persists when I store the ship, but if you have to claim the ship, then you will lose it.
Also, due to weird server issues this week and 30k's, I highly recommend you empty the box into your local planet or station storage **as soon as you land**, just to make sure you don't lose all your hard stolen swag!
