Disclaimer: This is a Filk. It's to the tune of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, though this version features six verses instead of the usual four, and the lyrics have been altered to tell a folk-style story about a mythical Test Squadron adventure. I created it for fun. It's by no means perfection. But, I figured, I had fun making the thing, and others may enjoy the thing, so why not share the thing? So, without further ado...
"For Montoya" - A Song / Filk to the Tune of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen
Now, I've heard there was an org of lore
The beer ran free, and it pleased the horde
The antics and the banter they would woo ya
But then one day a threat emerged
A dire foe, a real scourge
And they all prepared to fight for Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
The foe was fierce, beyond belief
The war raged on, without relief
As weeks turn months exhaustion overwhelms ya
But they swore they would battle on
To free the 'verse from the hellspawn
And to continue fighting for Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
The night was dark, the weather cold
A new plan hatched, both brave and bold
The fervor that was building would enthrall ya
They clammored to Aurora seats
And vowed to not concede defeat
And to their foes they screamed out "for Montoya"
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
The Vanduul are not a normal foe
They fight with rage, and a hateful glow
But Test prepared a fierce, final hurrah, yeah
They powered up, they rumbled forth
Auroras firing with full force
And the fleet all fought with haste for Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
Battle was brief but filled with fire
Explosions filled the deep night sky
Debris from the Auroras would overwhelm ya
The Vanduul burned like raging suns
On Aurora wrecks, they were undone
And as they fell Test shouted "for Montoya"
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
They returned home, much worse for wear
Scratched and scorched with much singed hair
Operation Pitchfork, a success, yeah
Montoya offered up a cheer
And then, of course, he paid with beer
With glasses high they hollered "for Montoya"
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
For Montoya
So, I hope you found this little filk amusing. Thanks for reading!
