The one designed for your car. You cannot improve the lubrication by using a different oil than what is recommended. Use what the engine calls for. Different viscosity oils exist specifically because of the differences between certain kinds of engines, thermal bandwidth. etc. Just use what is called for. What's the best lube for freezing temperatures?
I think he was looking for something more along the lines of don't use petroleum based lubricants with latex condoms, that is really good advice too.The one designed for your car. If you really want to improve on the oil, there are several nano-lubricant additives you can research that seem to offer some advantages, but simply changing your oil on schedule is really enough.
Winter in UK is usually quite mild .. so you could be ok w/o switching to 5 or 0 .. but my guess is most engines will appreciate at least 5 for winter mornings )I think i'm using 10W40 no matter if its winter or summer... Do you need to change it for winter?
