I know I have been told by many of the wise and inebriated members here to shot first and then shoot again and when in doubt shoot a third time. :drunk:
But I really feel bad shooting some players from time to time,...well not really all that bad but sorta bad.
Today at Levski I was checking a red player target to see if he had a bounty and didn't see anything so I continued on to hunt one of those 10K NPC bounties with the Retaliator. :like: Then I notice he is closing on my position with a Valkyrie (I have no crime stat)and I mean he is hauling some serious speed when he opens up with his two size 2 pilot weapons:wut:. I was really taken by surprise by this little space ninja,...Texting about killing the Tali and shooting and flying all at once!!! It brought real tears to my eyes,..really I think I shed tears over the whole thing and then it dawned on me while I was dancing around those little guns to boost out with the de-couple and use a torp. Now it takes a bit for the Tali to lock but bang and he is dead and the hate text began about how much money he lost and his dog ate his home work and his wife left him and took the dog and his horse....Really I feel just horrible:drunk:

A tale as old as time itself, and one with a moral:

Don't mes with the best, because the best don't mess. TEST!

Why you should??
My own rule is "do not mess with me, I won't mess with you (unless you have a bounty... but that is strIctly a business affair....)", so since HE started the fight is HIS fault, not yours.... if being shut down hurt so much next time he will lern not to mess with other for free....
It also work as a memento for other: give a TESTies a beer not a bullet...

Those Size 9 torps are really OP for the typical target in the current PU. They don't have, quite, enough boom for their final intended target.

When you care enough to send the very best, say it with Argos.

The guy thought he would have an easy kill, brag some, stroke his ego, collect the salt and move on. Instead he ended up dying to your torpedo. He made the choice to engage you and fire first. He could have left you alone, he did not.

As for how much money he lost, don’t believe the crocodile tears. Unless he had 30 SCU of Laranite or vice in his hold, he lost nothing (and if he had cargo, why was he attacking?). He can simply claim the ship and all his upgrades are back.

its one of the reasons for Pirates being more common now, they have zero risk when their ship blows up. Just claim it and do it again.

As a pacifist of convenience I personally wait for the other ship to fire the first shot before engaging, player or NPC. Once I know they are gunning for me it's self defense and I will not rest until their ship is neutralized - on this occasion it is a clear case of self defense, the Valk would not have stopped until your ship was destroyed. You defended yourself and removed the threat from the space-lanes, making it safer for other star faring law abiding citizens.

At the moment neutralizing a ship means destroying, however my ships of choice are loaded out with Distortions so eventually when these weapons work as they should I'll be able to knock the fool on their ass and then be on my way leaving them with a hefty repair bill - but alive.

That, and I ride ships that are fast enough to stay out of trouble. If they can't touch me they I won't have to react to it.
