Squirrels are a menace. I'll have to name one of my fighting ships after one.
I always use "gets run over by a squirrel" instead of of "gets hit by a bus" when discussing business continuity plans.

"Look, I know Sam is a great worker, but what happens tomorrow if she goes out for a walk and gets run over by a Squirrel? She's the only one that knows those processes and we need those processes for business to continue. Therefore, we need to crosstrain Sam and Fred so that if either of them become unavailable, we don't lose either of their skill sets."

Being run over by a squirrel just makes something horrible sound a little less macabre.

Here's a question that these links with no other content in the posts have got me wondering - I'm not accusing anything, it just got me interested and wondering - other than SEO mining, which is a thing posting random links all over the internet is famous for being a thing, what else can be done with them?

So I was on a website I hadn't visited in years, and added something to the cart but abandoned because I remembered that company was lame and I didn't want to use them again. I got an email saying "You left something in your cart, want to finish checking out?" but I was on a different computer, in a different building, on a different wi-fi network and wasn't logged in... there was nothing linking the decvice I was on to the website I'd once made a purchase on many years prior... so a) how? and b) what would be done with click-throughs on otherwise unassociated random URLs? Could you triangulate a user, for instance? You know a URL on site TEST would pull in users on that site so if you get a comment saying "Lol" or whatever you can be reasonably sure one of the users who'd clicked through on your link was the one saying "Lol"...? If they click through and comment on a couple of them you'd basically be able to tell which click-through user was them, like that website was somehow able to tell I'd visited it without my having any other indexicality with it, wouldn't you?

I’ve had several instances like that where I just can’t figure out how the algorithm got my number. Scary. Scarier still, my GPS didn’t warn me the other day about a forced choice on the highway, and I remarked “thanks Siri!” upon which she answered “sure thing!”

Totally new. The AI hive mind has us all by the balls.

Weird, isn't it? I'm guessing I've got a tracking cookie from somewhere I have a log-in like Youtube or a social media network which they are referencing where I'm not logged in, but it's only a guess. With a tenuous link like a tracking or other cookie do you reckon that'd be enough...?

I got my GPS in 2016 and it's not connected in any way, shape or form so there are whole roads and changes like junctions and roundabouts which are out there no it has no reference to. It's more of a pointer in the right direction than able to forewarn of anything actually in the way.

Cookies on web browsers are the easiest way. Modern browsers try to help by syncing to each other if you log into them. But even beyond that security around browsers is rather lax.

Beyond that while it is possible to track you as an individual across cell towers and wifi hot spots. The honest truth is your not important enough for anyone to bother. Your only value is the weight given to the demographic parameters you belong to and the typical buying habits and wealth. Ie how much money you have and what your inclined to spend it on.

Yes, it's enough.

Ahaa, many thanks.

I am pleased to be unimportant, what more could one want out of life than for it to be quiet, uncomplicated and relatively free from scams.

It's possible, I haven't opened the fridge in about 3 weeks.
