I would like to see if there's any interest in a group I'd like to start up.

It is tentatively called the Infinity Fleet Group (IFG), formerly known as Infinity Squad. I am open to other suggestions for the name.

The slogan: "Pushing the limits to Infinity, and Beyond!"

Ostensibly, IFG will be classified as an R&D Logistics Group, with a primary focus on Exploration, Science, and General Logistics. In reality, it will be a multidisciplinary group with individual members encouraged to have strong specialties and supporting skills. A wide range of skills will be valuable in the IFG, and they are listed below, with primary identified disciplines in blue, secondary disciplines in purple, and tertiary disciplines in green:

SIGINT - Signals Intelligence
  • Data Specialists (Anybody with a Herald, good at running data)
  • Electronic Warfare Specialists (Defensive and Offensive EWAR)
  • Sensor/Scanner Specialists (Useful for Exploration and as part of a command vessel)
  • Stealth Specialists (skilled in silent running)

IMINT & CELINT - Imaging Intelligence & Celestial Intelligence
  • Stellar Cartography (Charting unknown systems)
  • Science Officer (Also falls under SPEC)
  • Resource Mapping
  • Jump Point Charting
  • Photography
SPEC - Other Specializations
  • Medical (Medic & Doctor)
  • Engineering (Repairs & Optimization)
  • Scouting
  • Information Analysis
  • Transport of Sensitive Cargo/Passengers
  • Other roles that may be called for in IFG missions
Note: Tertiary skillsets (in green above) are not requirements. We'd love to have those skillsets in our toolbox, however. :)

I can see the IFG being a group that handles high-order (read: sensitive) contracts, as well as high-risk jobs that most members would likely have difficulty with. Additionally, there is the possibility of having a strong focus on R&D with regards to Overclocking, Engineering, and the like.

Here is a list of possible starting branches within the IFG:

  • Information Logistics
    • Data-running (Transportation)
    • Information Analysis
    • Pathfinder (exploration)
  • Science
    • Research and Development
    • Scientific Analysis
    • Medical
  • Engineering
    • Overclock Specialist
    • Maintenance & Repair
    • R&D Outfitting (loadouts)
  • SOG
Everyone will have their specialties, and they will be given the flexibility to execute on those flexibilities, while also being placed in an environment that encourages them to also develop their other skillsets which can benefit both the IFG and TEST Squadron as a whole.

There are more details that I could share, but it's all internal, and I would like to wait until we have a proper internal, secured forum to make use of before I share those details. :)

Ultimately, my goal is to build Infinity up as a group with an ironclad reputation for delivering on its missions. Someone asks us to overclock an engine to the point where it could explode, but delivers the desired performance? We'll do it. Someone asks us to fly through Vanduul space to get as much information as we can on the system? We'll do it. Someone asks us to discreetly move cargo for them? We'll do it. Someone asks us to assign someone to their persistent warship? We'll do it.

The goal is to push the limits of what is possible, for the betterment of the organization as a whole. Any results we produce, provided that it is safe to do so, will be shared with the entirety of the organization.

This post will be updated as more information becomes available as I develop the concept further, and produce the appropriate stationery (read: logos).

If anyone has questions about IFG, please do not hesitate to ask! I love questions. I have linked the application form below, for I am now actually building a roster of prospective recruits.

Sounds very intersting NKato. I can't wait to see more as the data becomes available. I am very interested in EWAR and data running and have appropriate ships for both.

This post is for listing possible names for the Infinity Group. Bear in mind that I would like to avoid any possible semantics that could be seen as elitist or militaristic.

Suggested Names So Far:
  • Infinity Flight Group
  • Infinity Fleet Group
  • ∞ Group/Squad
  • Infinity Group
  • Infinity Squad
  • Infinity Battalion (ick.)
  • Infinity DEVGRU

Currently, I'm waiting to see more of how the mechanics behind in-game data analysis and whatnot play out before checking them as interests.
If you're talking about dealing with coding something like a TSP solver or just a route planner, I have the skills to deal with at least some of that.
Not that we shouldn't expect to see third-party apps from EVE-based orgs being made available in the first week of beta.

Jump point charting, any type of exploration into the unknown (provided I don't die) is of interest to me! Sign me up to the Beyond, just bring me back alive!

I'm interesting in helping out where ever I can as long as it doesn't distract from Rock Raiders.

p.s. I still have the longest and most detailed post in the professions forum :) Get on my level NKato. :) :)

p.p.s. its all in good fun.

P.S. TEST PALS is the biggest and most active thread. (even if it's not official yet, cmon Montoya)

Get on my or whoever ends up being in charge of its level

Actually ON TOPIC, Exploration and Science is reallynot my cup of tea, but I wish all of you the best.

I'll definitely pitch in with my Herald for Data-running and/or EWAR, and Medical/SAR with my Cutlass Red whenever I'm not otherwise engaged with PALS stuff, and you can always count on PALS to back you guys up in a sticky situation.

Great idea Nkato. I know you're not a fan of the illegal aspects of SC but as long as my space meth and forgery activities aren't a bar from entry I'd love to get involved in Engineering, ewar and maybe a bit of stealth too.

Do Inifinity R&D or Infinity Logistics, not both. Too many syllables otherwise.

The slogan's gonna need some help, too. It's really really corny right now. Make it something simple, but that conveys a good message. "No limits, only Infinity" or similar.

IRDL would be the acronym, though. But you have good points. I'll take them under consideration and see if improvements can be made.
