Its writers got lost in a nebula made of alcohol vapors while they were searching for inspiration. They will possibly show up when they run out of pretzels & beer nuts.
it was Michael O'Donoghue from National Lampoon and Chevy Chase

at least one of them is dead

Of course...
Star Wars
Star Trek

Somehow I never saw Babylon 5 in the 90's (alot going on in my life back then, newly married, kids, moving to several houses, job changes... oiy). Now I've just started Season 5. GREAT SHOW!

The Expanse - awesome show. It's sort of how I picture SC working.

How about Planet of the Apes?
Some Twilight Zone episodes

Mate, this is a big list, but I'll give it a shot:
Star Wars
Star Trek
Alien
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
The Expanse
SG: Universe (Not the other ones tho, I hated atlantis...)
Firefly/Serenity
Red Dwarf
2001: A Space Odyssey
The Martian
Interstellar
District 9
Fifth Element
Blade Runner, if that counts
Edge Of Tomorrow

And my hands-down favourite, Doctor Who, and all it's spin offs.

There's more, of course.

@Laughing-Skull No, sadly. Too bad.

Wanted to say Dr. Who and District 9, too (but its not really space based, isn't it? (I'm always imagining myself as british gentleman when i say that))
totally forgot Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Red Dwarf heard about it several times, but i don't think its a big thing yet in germany.

Well, District 9 (and Edge of Tomorrow, as well) are both set on earth but they happen to have aliens and spaceships in them. Doctor Who, though, involves quite a bit of space travel. The TARDIS is, after all, a space ship.

That other stuff is good, but this is the coolest ship ever! I could wipe out a fleet of Kingships with the Argo's Wave Motion Gun. Episode after episode, the Argo destroyed entire fleets of Javelin-like ships. I also like reading Warhammer 40,000 novels, give those a try.
