Looks like the next concept is an Aegis interceptor or racer

I saw the silhouette and the first thing that came to mind was the C.O. Delta.
That with the paint scheme and all.
Considering it's a new ship and it's supposed to add something to the table the other Sabres ain't got it's either QD/QI or something else entirely.
They might obviously turn this thing into a racer since they codenamed it "Peregrine". And that 's the name of the fastes Falcon in existence.
(Nope, Millenium Falcon doesn't count because different universe and stuff.)
But that'd be taking away one of the top scores of the Firebird.
What's it got besides 24 Missiles? Speed, and not much else...
Then again, Peregrines are called "Wandering Falcons" for a reason. Maybe this model is a fast scout with an advanced radar suite like the Origin 315 or the Hornet Tracker.
Bigger fueltank wouldn't hurt either.
If it could keep the -40 % on emissions it might turn out to be awesome in that role.
Still only 2x S3 guns I'd wager.
Another thought though. Maybe it's the fabled and long since rumored Aegis Starter ship.
All weapons downgraded to Size 2 and it looses all advantages on emission. Slow as f*ck too.
Buuuut: 4 SCU...
YAY!!
But they wouldn't do that to us.
Right?
Riiiight...?!

I had my doubts, but this little ship kicks ass. It's not a high dps machine, more of a specialist tool. You can, almost always, find and recon the enemy before they know you are there. For smaller ships the 6 size 3 missiles are overkill. For medium ships (i.e. size 2 shields) a working tactic is to race in and grab the bounty aggro in NAV mode. Race out and watch to see if it switches to NAV to pursue you. If it does, stop and switch to SCM, then dump 6 in it's face as it's coming in. EM missile work good here as the target sig is quite high from the QD drive, and it's enough damage to nuke an MSR with shields down.

I did not originate this tactic but have respect for whoever did figure it out.

In other aspects, it's still just a single seat fighter with all the limitations that brings. I'd really love to see more development of something other than combat.

Looks like another Sab Raven derivative. If it's faster than my 350r I'm going to loose my piss, fastest personal ship I'll ever call my own my ass.
Hate to be the bearer of.. patch notes?.. but there are 17 ships which either equal (1425 m/s) or exceed the 350r. The Raven/Firebird falls just behind it at 1400, so this new one probably won't be faster.

Yup. It started with the Herald. It'll end with...?

It's why I have a supercollider. If my 350r the Zero Hour is not the fastest stock it damned well better be fastest once I've tweaked it's nuts off -_-

IT'S A!!!... BORING!
Okay,
you got my interest peaked.
Tell me about BORING...
New Manufacturer? (Boring Universal Lard Lubbers (B.U.L.L.))
New Game Loop? (Nerfherder)
New Weapon Type?!?! (Ignores Shields AND Armor, does 1 point of damage per size)
Then again... Aegis Sabre Peregrine "Not a Raven, honest!" BORING.
Quite the mouthfull.
That ship sounds like it has quite the lineage...

I hear ya, @maynard. Unless there's something remarkable about the new Sabre to be revealed (later today?) and the rumors are right, it might sell about as well as the Cutlass Steel did(n't).

New solar systems probably bring in an enormous amount of new money to the game, albeit indirectly in the form of new backers and additional pledges from existing ones, but if they're of a comparable quality to the first one or two, they'll also cost two or three orders of magnitude more effort than a new small ship variants cost to make.
