LOL.. 'heavy scout' indeed. A completely underwhelming cargo ship - smaller guns and larger signature than the base model, no amenities, and inadequate capacity for anything above beginner hauling contracts at 3x the price of a Freelancer.
Depends on the hauling contract methinks. Hauling 32 SCU of high-value cargo that should better not get scanned by the authorities might be the adequate game loop.
Checking out the junkjard for murder hobo infestation before touching down to make a deal sounds healthy to me too.
It's not the daily driver for Joe the Trucker, sure.
But it might be great for Rogues who like to do their smuggling routine Solo...
PS: According to the pictures on the promotional site this thing got jumpseats. Any chance the cargo grid can hold 4 Atlas IKTI? Because THAT would open up some verry interesting possibilities!
Mechanized Ninja Strike Force 4 the win!!! :glorious:

In theory you can get it down to 4km detection range, which would be cool for smuggling past a blockade I guess.
That requires you to keep your nose towards the blockading ships though. You have a 10km vector agnostic detection range, which is kinda... meh. The cross section just absolutely ruins it.

And even if we're assuming you're somehow maintaining that 4km detection range, what's the use case here? Smuggling, yes, but that sorta blockade gameplay isn't in the game yet and might never be.

I am still renewed in my interest in the original. Can’t use it as a daily driver or live out of it, but still an impressive assault platform.
The base Prowler is a decent ship with great firepower. It has two weakness's in my opinion 1) only one powerplant, not enough to fully power the ship's abilities. 2) No place for scavenged cargo/modules or really ANY other game loop.

Dunno because I haven't flown one yet.
But I promise I'll TEST most of the best ( and ALL of the worst) use-cases... :o7:
We are TEST! We have cases :)

Keep in mind that in many situations, no one is pinging. You know when those are so you know when you can ignore your CS. With all unnecessary components are switched off, the Utility has an EM of 1.2 and an IR<1, so most ships can’t see it unless they’re within 1km.

So, if you’re running the Sons of Orion storyline trying to smuggle arms onto a contested world, this is the go to ship. I think though, what we needed was a bigger ship that can fit tonks.

Certainly though, a good smuggler, if you can find a worthy cargo that large. Out of Jumptown, with 32 SCU. . .that is a LOT of money. If you put 8 guys in this and 7 went in, you could be very rich very fast.

I saw one vid where the guy was making a big deal of how quickly this thing loads and unloads with the included tractor. So, stealing drugs almost cries out.

Hmm, those are good points. I'd still want that cross section reduction to be more tho, but it could work.

Really? spviewer is saying the lowest you could go is 2.2

Come to think of it, this Prowler with its stealth and cargo capacity might actually turn out useful to give a ride to unwilling passengers in unfriendly territories.
You know, bounty loop an such once it's in game.
Still wonder if I can put 2 big bombs i the cargo holds and the force eject above a target of choice.
Come on guys, this ride kinda screams stealth bomber, doesn't it?
Imagine the picture.
Diving while the cargo bays open and the pads push the bombs out.
Choose a target.
Release.
Topple the pigs fortress
Angry Birds all the way! :glorious:

(I know I mention Angry Birds way too often. I blame the Teverian design though.)

The stealth buff does make it much more attractive. I think I've seen the bomb usage question somewhere before too.

Extensive TESTing is required! Beerfarer will be provided, and I'll bring the bombs in the cargo hold.

Will park a safe distance away from the drop zone, don't wanna risk the Beerfarer. That ship is mission critical.

I'm going to eat some shoe leather here, and offer a Revised Opinion. Please pass some bbq sauce and beer to help me chew my previous statements.

In point of fact, nothing I brought up earlier was technically wrong, from the point of view of a cargo hauler. But this is a case of 'Don't hate it for what it isn't, appreciate it for what it is'.

I've spent most of this week using the Pr-U as a Stealth Fighter. Hear me out:

a) signatures that compete with or beat dedicated 'stealthy' ships
b) damage output that competes with or beats dedicated 'stealthy' ships
c) agility on the level of heavy fighters or better
d) an interior which allows getting up for food, healing and gear swaps
d) safe 'seating' for up to 4 more players, including a remote turret
f) small but useful cargo and tractor that can be run completely from pilot or copilot seat
g) adequate amount of QT fuel for getting around in Pyro, handily beating every other 'stealthy' fighter

It could use a popcorn popper, as I've sat off and watched numerous other players running their missions and occasionally shooting at each other. And I'd really like it to have a bed for logging; tbd on how that system will evolve. But overall it runs kinda like a sneaky Cutlass Black, and THAT ain't a bad thing.

It has absolutely grown on me. At first, I was kind of stand off'ish, but I really do enjoy flying it now.

It flies comfortably for me, and I've always enjoyed stealthy gameplay. Everything you mention below are firm positives I agree with.

I'm loving the Silverado paint on mine. Makes it a super sexy creepy lurker machine.

It does need a popcorn popper too...
