i have yet to see anything from CIG that incentivizes ship-to-ship combat other than bounty hunting

But in all honesty its something that has not been talked about as far as I am aware of. There has been hints of possibilities that the community has ran with but as of the moment the only possibility is engaging with Vanduul and possibility of other Pirate/UEE missions. Other then that while fleet battles will be real there currently is nothing to fight over no prize besides bragging rights on spectrum. There needs to be something, some monetary prize at the end, perhaps control of a rich asteroid field or profitable station but as I said all speculation.
