I'm still not very successful in not liking this thread. Even with all the hugging going on.
I'm back and here some joyful math...
There is a box (1m X 1m) next to a wall.
next to that box is a 3m high ladder.
What is the highest point on the wall you can reach with that ladder while it still touches the floor?

Is this a trick question? Like, just move the damn box, or - even better - put the ladder next to the box. Less effort all around. I'm gonna say the answer is 3m.

Okay to be totally honest .. I had to look up what to do after I had the surface A .. but I think it counts anyways: ~ 2,45
sqrt(1² + 1²) = 1,414 = h
(3m * 1,414m) /2 = 2,121 m² = A
(here is the part I did not remember: )
sqrt( 2,121² - (1,414)^4 ) = 0,707 = x
q = (2,121 - 0,707) / 1,414 = 1
p = 3 - 1 = 2
a = (3 * 1) = 1,732
b = sqrt(3² - 1,732²) = sqrt( 6 ) = 2,45m
