I read that it was a truck that drove into a mass of people, and that the driver is under arrest. Fucking hell.
Someone have other sources saying other things?
It's not from the most reliable source. They usually get the big picture right, but details isn't important when you want to rush news to be first...

Germany is still shocked. Number of deaths has risen to 12. And if the stories, which are spread by the news, become true - well, then we will have a political earthquake, because it seems that it is a refugee who first killed the driver of the truck and then drove it onto the christmas market and into the crowd. Said being said, nothing is fixed as of now. But IF this becomes true and IF then Merkel does not recede from her position as German Chancellor - I'm afraid we will have our Trumpocalypse in Fall 2017, when the federal elections happen here in Germany...

I really, really hope that that's just a rumor. The refugee.. "debate" doesn't need something like this.
I'm scared that more innocent people will get hurt as "retribution".

colleague saw the truck at zoo this morning. Grim. Thoughts are with the families of those effected.

So far, the Statements about the refugee having driven the truck are unsources and shouldn't be quoted because it's easy to figure out who started them. The Police would most certainly not give away a "possible identity" and I doubt anyone of us could tell someone from Afghanistan etc. from someone who's parents came from Turkey etc.

Personally, I think our minds should be with the victims, not some rumors... as far as the political situation is concerned however, we face the issue that Merkel etc. ignored Refugees for years after having cut the budget for sea oversee and rescue operations. Then when the average-joe noticed it after it has been on our most popular newspaper (which also is usually among the first to spread BS), she opened the Borders without any sort of plan/control. Leaving aside that this idiocy is the greatest buff to our right-wing idiots of various sorts, you can count on the fact that the situation will be handled like it was caused: with populism and ignorance.

End of week we will know more. But as evidence is slowly emerging - the driver apparently has been shot, following to information given by Karl-Heinz Schröter/federal interior minister -, we have to face the possibility that populism even here could take over the rudder.

Eerie. Im passing by the christmas market on Alexanderplatz in Berlin as I type, on the way back from work. Whole thing closed obviously. Very sad.
