We’re YEARS away from the first monster release. Are you gonna become a monster hunter?
There, I fixed that for you ya!

But really, are we getting big monstrers like this with 3.18 ? I haven't seen that mentioned.
I'm guessing we are more likely getting 3.18 as the Christmas break parting gift then in a couple of days, if at all. Some tubers suggest that there is a good chance it will slip into next year, sadly.

Em, don’t I recall critters are supposed to enter the game with 3.18? Pretty sure that’s still the plan but no official announcement saying what creatures. Could be the Crab will wait till 4.0.
Optimism. Too optimistic, @Lorddarthvik is right. Check the tracker for updates. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/roadmap/progress-tracker/deliverables

edit: they still owe us space whales and the boreal stalker too.
edit 2: besides, they need to get a ton of ships and gameplay into the game before they do critters and creatures.

It's not just getting critters, it's getting NPCs working in general.

We all see NPCs standing around, doing nothing when they should be moving around. We see them stalled out completely at times, not just walking into walls.

Before we get critters, we need to get server meshing, so that they can offload a lot of the stuff being done and allow for critters to exist in-game and for them to follow their prescribed behaviors.

Only once they have NPCs moving around in cities, without the lag and the stall issues, will they add in more NPC mobs.

For those who attended the last digital bar citizen, Nightrider from CIG told that we will be able to tame creatures and not only hunt them. When asked what kind of creature, he mimicked the small little critter we have seen in leaks recently, and showed that creature in his background when talking about the creatures in general.

He also suggested that leaving a ship opened on certain planets might let some unwanted creatures come inside ;)

Of course no ETA, or if that will ever make it in game.

The tracker shows they did some preliminary work with critters over a year ago, but only the whale and boreal stalker are listed there. We got the plushies for the whale just after that.

I did wonder if the critter AI would be able to path-find their way up an open ramp and onto a ship.

That's cool.....never ends well, but it's cool!

As a pacifist of convenience (being incompetent at committing violence is the same as not being violent) I deplore all forms of aggression and implore everyone to, like, give peace a chance, man.

Unless the Pyro Crab (or whatever) is attacking you, then get your steely toecap boots on and kick them in the unmentionables. Self defence should be expected in such situations by both the attacker and society in general. Yes, you can turn the other cheek but in some situations that cheek risks being relocated to the other side of the room minus the rest of your body... in which case give 'em it back as hard as they choose to dish it out.
