Copied from FB SC post, sounds like if you start with a 325i you can clean up:

Fun discovery. You can stack courier missions pretty easily in any ship with an interior. Want to make some good money really quick with almost zero risk? Get a bunch of courier missions on the same planet that all go to the same drop off point. I just made almost 90k going from Lyria to New Babbage. Picked up packages from all over Lyria and dropped them all at one location in New Babbage.

What I wouldn't give for a piece of lost technology that thousands of box runners used to whisper about: the dolly.

Rumor says it was able to carry MULTIPLE BOXES....at the SAME TIME! Truly a marvel. I weep for those of us who have to carry all of these boxes by hand to our ships....

but seriously yeah box missions can be pretty dang lucrative if you stack em. Juggling them into elevators is a really big pain in the ass however.

And if you get a 30k you don't lose anything. There's no risk.

Has anyone ever opened a courier package to see what's inside, I wonder?
I suspect that courier missions will eventually be used to “transfer” items from one place to another once the physicalized inventory goes into effect. When they talked about selling items between players, they mentioned that items would be at one place and need to be moved to another. These types of courier missions will be part of it.

I can even see some larger components needing larger ships. So, let’s say you buy a S3 jump drive for cheap over on Port O, but you need it moved to New Babbage where your ship is broken down on. You can pay a courier to move it for you, but because it’s S3, you will need someone with a big enough cargo bay. To hold the container needed for that components. That means you might need a freelancer or cutlass at a minimum, or maybe even a Max or a Connie.

If a player doesn’t take the mission, an NPC will, even if intercepted, you will still get your delivery, but other missions might be generated. For instance, recovery missions might be generated if your ship is destroyed, or if the delivery driver stole it, a bounty might be issued for theft on the hauler. You might have a fence that is buying cargo deliveries that needs to be eliminated, etc. you might be able to generate a mission yourself to have it delivered and pay less than an NPC Org might charge you, ( and the delivery pilot would be paid more too) and you might get it sooner, but there might not be insurance either, so if it goes missing, you are out of luck. You might use this method if you want it delivered someplace where there are no imperial entanglements or you are in a rush,

I've done my fair share of this kind of activity since box missions are a thing, mostly in my 300i. You can make really good cash when it works. The important bit is the "when it works" . Cos it doesn't, most of the time.

Pros:
- even an aurora mr can currently fit like 6-8 boxes easily in front of the bed door. That's like 5-7k auec / box.
- if you take the legal missions only, it's still good money
- there is currently low risk of you being intercepted by pirates, even if they do you can just boost away and quantum later
- it's easy so you can watch YouTube or Netflix or do your taxes while traveling

Cons:

- This Only Works as long as the Devs Allow you to carry boxes up ladders!!! This is not working as originally intended, it is a workaround for now!
- the 300 series have a cargo bay/lift on the bottom, that should allow for box carry missions. It is totally broken, do not put anything in there! The best case scenario, thr box will end up stuck inside your ships hull and you can't take it out. Worst case the box intersecting with your ship blows it up.
- traveling around a planet to pick up multiple boxes at multiple outposts may take a lot more time than it's worth, because of 30K and other bugs. Getting in and out of atmosphere to get around to the other side of a moon can be very slow. Max 2-3 pickups and go is the most I'd recommend.
- you can easily spend 30-60minutes picking up 3-6 boxes around a moon. You may run out of H fuel easily in a 300 series or smaller ship going in and out of atmosphere
- spent an hour picking up boxes, only to get a 30K
- spent an hour picking up and travelling to new cabbage, only to find that the vending machine is bugged and won't accept the deliveries!
- same thing but the delivery point is in the middle of a random building you cannot reach in any way (this happened just yesterday)
- the 300 and other smaller ships, including the Herald, may not have enough fuel to make the jump from microtech moons to Cabbage, you gotta refuel at Mic 1 and with the refueling being broken you might get screwed
- multiple pickups should only be done from the same location if you can land off-pad, otherwise your vehicle might get stowed. This will invalidate the boxes for their missions, even if you get them spawned back with the ship
- if you landed on a pad, do not let your ship get stowed while you have boxes in it! Do not spawn a new ship thinking you can just move boxes to it while they are inside your first ship, as it will get replaced! Move it off the pad first!
- accepting multiple box missions from the same outpost is an awesome way to make money But, the vending machine can rarely handle that and won't give you the boxes most of the time (6 out of 8 times I tried it broke the game with 3.8 and 3.9.1). Still of you can get this to work, it is by far the easiest money you can make.

What I've learned is: use a Freelancer. You all got one for free for now anyways right? It has the range, the speed, and the space. It's fast and easy to get in and out of, and still small enough to fit on roof pads or close to outpost buildings with no pads.
Do only highest paying boxes! 6000+ credit ones, the others take you on the same distance for less money.
Do 1-3 boxes at a time, it's more efficient with all the bugs. Picking up 6, stopping for fuel you spent on the moon, and then finding out 1.5hours of flying about later that the delivery point vending machines don't work... yeah, not great.
The 300 is like a Dodge Demon running with a fuel tank the size of a thimble. Watch your H fuel!

A system that makes missions on the fly would be great.

1) Take this custom tooled S2 repeater to a buyer in ArcCorp. Open for players for 10-15 minutes and after that an NPC takes it. Certain amount of missions are solely NPCs just to keep numbers up.

2) Once that mission is assigned it opens up a criminal mission- go kill this pilot and steal this gun because I want it.

3) Which then spawns a bounty mission- someone stole this gun, go kill them for me

Obviously not every box run should be like this, majority should be milk runs, but the system has a lot of potential. Not just with box missions too- hopefully in the not too distant future we can have NPC merchant convoys that have escort contracts, which spawn pirates/pirate missions to raid them, etc etc.

I have been doing this all day in a Herald because LOL Herald and it was pretty fun, boxes on the bed, all over the floor, boosting all over the place.

Brilliant.

I picked up a herald in the sale - will have to try out the box boosting :D

To be fair to it, its a great little run about, I love it.

While I love the shape and the speed of it, it is painfully slow to do boxruns. The stock quantum drive is ridiculously slow and eats fuel like a ww2 tank, and it's maneuverability in atmosphere is laughable bad. Slides all over the place even at slow speeds well below the SCM limit.
Once CiG takes out the ladder-boxcarry-workaround, it won't be able to do box runs, as it won't even have a cargo rack I think?

Anyways, it's a fun ship, second on my "to get with in-game cash" after the Terrapin 😁

Aye probably, I have one as an escape pod for my Kraken, its the only reason I own it, tiny ship with full jump capability, full living facilities, only downside is you will just have to survive on dry rations as it doesn't have a cooker.

I would like to see big box missions that you load the box with a forklift.
Cool idea, I would love to see that happen at one point!

Originally they had the idea that you would have to do this for every piece of cargo you buy. Load it manually or pay and wait for the landing pad hands/droids to load it for you. They even designed a gravlev pallet for this if I remember correctly.
Then the players freaked out that it would take time and effort for them, and it's boring and so on, so they basically canceled this idea.
